If anyone knows what kind of oil/silicone applied to the back case? Brand? What's the function of that oil? Prevent leaks? I need this for my dive computer as i notice the oil is drying up when i change the battery. Afraid it might leaks or something if it dries up.
Thanks in advance!

Silicone grease is applied to the rubber gaskets on the case back. It keeps the gaskets flexible so they’ll compress properly to maintain water resistance.
I bought a small jar of the stuff from Amazon for less than $10. The brand is “Euro tool”, but you just search for silicone grease for watches. A little goes a long way.

Get one of the silicone sponges which make lubing the gaskets much easier.

It’s useful to have around. Especially if you need to grease up a Dr.ass
Re: For you watch expert
remember, just like a watch, if you open the dive computer case, even if you reapply silicone, you really won't know it's water resistance unless it's pressure tested. this is why many dive shops won't replace batteries in house.kempoman wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 12:40 amIf anyone knows what kind of oil/silicone applied to the back case? ask me how i know? because on a dive trip in key largo, the one dive shop nearby wouldn't replace it. they sold me a battery and told me how and i did it (because we needed it to dive), but we did get some minor leakage and i had the battery replaced, cleaned up and pressure tested at my home shop later.

That's what my local MARES AD told me. Ship it back to them for the job. If they are around my area i might get it to them. But, the problem of shipping back and forth for changing of battery, just too much of hassles.

Re: For you watch expert
the alternative could be buying a new computer. find someone who'll pressure test it nearby.

I've used one of these for years, makes it easy with no mess.dnslater wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 4:37 amGet one of the silicone sponges which make lubing the gaskets much easier.

I'll 3rd this. Not sure why I waited so long to pick up one of these but it works great and it also makes the gaskets easier to maneuver after greasing.namor wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 8:23 amI've used one of these for years, makes it easy with no mess.dnslater wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 4:37 amGet one of the silicone sponges which make lubing the gaskets much easier.
