He could have just omitted the second sentence and kept going. That sentence just makes me want to move on to something else.

He made out pretty good at Christmas. We always got socks and underwear.

I’m reminded every time I put on a clean pair of underwear and see the fly, how lucky I am to be male and have the option to stand or sit to pee.

He probably would have liked a dress better than all those cheap watches.

Regardless of what anyone may think of the politics or pov of this particular author, Hodinkee seems to be branching out more into "what is the meaning of watches" content, for lack of a better description. I guess some people like the variety, but a lot of it just comes across as fluff disguised as think pieces (at least to me). But I am kind of enjoying the couple of articles that Sid Mashburn has written, because they combine watches and men's fashion, which I find interesting.

You just can't get away from this woke BS. It's everywhere now, and it's really getting old.

That’s the line that lost me. There’s nothing “reluctant” in my being a man, that’s just biology. Being the best person I can be is a choice, and at 68, still a work in progress. Of course, having been raised by a WW2 submariner Bosun’s Mate might have been a leetle bit formative.

I don’t know how normal people live in those areas. I guess that’s so many people leaving up north.

I get PTSD, but I don’t understand how common this term has become. The younger generation seems to have forgotten, or never learned what it means to be an adult and keep your shit together under pressure.

Triggered is the new term for weak people who can’t control their emotions.
And you’re right, it has nothing to do with PTSD.
