That was a choice I’ll defend any day.logan2z wrote:Definitely would have been better if they'd removed it. I'm pretty sure that Stowa removes it on their no-date watches. But I've owned a watch with a ghost date and it didn't bug me too much.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 12:20 pmWeird, at this cost point they didn't eliminate the ghost date setting. I remember not too long ago micro brands being roasted over this, and there were watches under $1,000.
I’d rather pay $100 less and have the ghost date then.

Wonder why this guy can produce a acrylic 3D bezel and Benrus could not. For 80 bucks any one wants to replace there bezel ring than the cheap metal one it came with here you go it mite fit

Mike because the acrylic bezel is a fragile piece. Not worth the warranty headache imo.River Rat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 1:56 pmWonder why this guy can produce a acrylic 3D bezel and Benrus could not. Re: New Benrus Type I
Out of all vintage Benrus type 1 & 2 never seen a fragile cracked bezel ring only some scratched up ones mines still still in great shape. Tell me have you seen a cracked vintage one yet on a type 1 & 2 seen so many on eBay and watch forums through the years even some said the same on the thread at the MWR forum. More would take the risk for originality believe me.

New Benrus Type I
Just FYI these are now available direct from Benrus and the military/LEO/responder discount (15%) applies. If you qualify for GovX, you’ll qualify for this I assume.

it isn't the buyer taking the risk, it is the company who provides the warranty taking the risk.

Mine landed. Quite pleased initially, though I do wish the strap was wearable by people with under like 8” wrists. I’d actually give it a try if it fit, seems pretty nice.

Re: New Benrus Type I
Todd, fyi, Hodinkee have an alternative strap in stock; if you ask for it they'll send it, i just got mine a few days ago. haven't compared it to the original strap yet to see if the new one is shorter, or just has more holes in it...
Re: New Benrus Type I
Thanks guys. Reached out and Benrus replied to me within the hour and they are sending a new strap out to me. Quality.

Cool- didn’t know you got it so quickly. Looks very good on you. Looks like I’ll have to find some more trade fodder for youChocodove wrote:Mine landed. I was talking to Ed earlier and just for fun I took this side by side with the Hemlig
There is a bit more difference than I thought.

Re: New Benrus Type I
I’ll try to take a few better ones tomorrow.
Re: New Benrus Type I
Yes, I agree. I’m surprised as well. I’m trying to decide if the Hemlig is actually larger, or just appears bulkier due to the position and angle of the camera.
I’ve been wearing the Hemlig quite a bit recently and I find it a very comfortable size for even my relatively average size wrist. I’m usually in the “I wish it were 1 or 2mm smaller” camp, but don’t feel this way about the Hemlig (but likely would with the Paradive).
One difference I did notice earlier is the lack of drilled lugs on the Benrus. I’m guessing this is true to the original, but I like them for my “hard duty” watches. I’m installing shoulderless bars in mine and putting it on a PDW NATO for about as rugged a setup as I can fashion.
Re: New Benrus Type I
I actually put shoulderless spring bars in all my nato-only watches, including the Benrus. They basically make it a fixed bar watch, but can be easily snipped out with a pair of wire cutters if/when needed. The bars that CountyComm sells are great quality, strong, and the tips work for almost everything, except Seiko & Rolex (which need a larger diameter tip).Ryeguy wrote:
