I Need Your Help

Hey Guys,

This is my first thread since coming back, and I need your help. I have finally added high end to my collection. The first purchase was a Tudor BB Heritage 3-hander on leather strap. I really have enjoyed wearing the BB very much. Also, I have added a Breitling B-1 on rubber strap. This has been a grail since the 90s when I saw an Ana-Digi for the first time. I was fortunate to find a vintage Omega Seamaster that was produced some time in the 1970s.

I am having decisional paralysis on picking my next purchase. I would like to stay under $2,000 but I am willing to add a small amount to get something that appeals to me. One that I am considering is a Sinn, a brand I have never owned before. However, my mind is open to see what you would recommend. I can go with a bracelet or strap, so I am open with either one. My sweet spot is between 40-43mm, it doesn't matter if it is a date or no date, and I can go with an automatic or quartz, but I would prefer an automatic or mechanical. It doesn't matter if it's new or pre-owned.

I think that covers my criteria on what I'm looking for. If I forgot to add something, please let me know. I am looking forward to your recommendations on what you think would be the next addition.

Do you have any ideas for complications?

If adding a Sinn is your goal, I’ve always liked the 103 chrono. 41mm in size, 200 meters water resistant, timing bezel, and right about at your price point.

Are you looking for a dive watch? Pilot? Rotating bezel, fixed bezel? GMT?

Sinn is a fantastic brand and I like everything they put out, but even within Sinn there are a large variety of styles....

Sinn U1 or 103 chrono would be my pick. The Sinn 857 UTC is also a very nice watch (I miss mine).

Would also second Jay's recommendation about Zodiac CD !

They have really gotten back to the way they used to be years ago.
With classic meeting thinking outside the box in almost every model.

I like a lot of the current Zodiac dive watch offerings. Cool retro vibe and many clock in at 40mm, so not oversized. From the photos I've seen, I do wonder whether the lug-to-lug might be too long for me.

Thanks Paul for helping. I do not have any preferences at this time. I am open to what you guys will be recommending. However, my wrist size is 7.50 inches. However, the one complication that piques my interest is a GMT movement. However, this is not a deal breaker for me.

Hi Chris... The 103 has been on my radar during this process. The help I have relied on is the 2018/2019 Sinn Catalogue. One favorite I am reminded of is the 936, a Bi-Compax style with sub dials at 3 and 9. I have yet to see one in picture, so if anyone has one your pic will be greatly appreciated. Another one is the 856 S UTC, the 836 which is bigger than the 556. I am torn between the 356 and the 358. For something different, I find the 212 KSK very intriguing.

Hi Tom... It's so good to see you again. I do like the 103, and the anthracite dial is proving to be a very unique option. For whatever reason, I haven't thought about Fortis. I just may have to take another look.

Sinn is at the top of my list. As good choices these are, I would appreciate more recommendations. Oris is another possibility as there are several models that are very appealing to me. Let's continue to see what other possibilites are out there.

You make a very good point Paul. IIRC the Sixty-Five model gives you a chance to swap straps. As much as I like their divers, that will be be more than what I want to spend. Anyone else have any ideas/recommendations?

Don't mention it Joe. The Sea Wolf is nice right?! ..It's 40mm only I believe. Not 53.

Oh, and you never see those Jetomatics out there. Have only seen them on the site.

Great to see you again also ChesterDogg ! It has to be an insane amount of fun looking
for this next watch. There is so much out there, and the whole spontaneous factor.
With not knowing what is on the horizon for your wrist, and collection is THE best !

Another Oris that has piqued my interest is the Big Crown Pro Pilot. If anyone has a Pro Pilot, please post a few pics including a wrist shot.

I'm curious as to how the Sinn and Fortis compare to each other. I think I read that Fortis was going through some tough times and they were thinking about selling the brand. There is a Aeromaster that is absolutely beautiful. The raised indicies along with the numerals are exquisitely done.



Is there any other brand I am forgetting to include?

At around $2k, a second hand quartz Grand Seiko can be a great option.

Hi Andrea... I never thought about a Grand Seiko. This would be something different for my collection. However, 37mm is too small for me, so my sweet spot is between 40 to 43mm.

All of you are doing awesome in helping me on my next purchase. I am looking forward to see what other options are on the horizon.
