New Breitling Avenger Collection

Post by AtomicTom » Thu Sep 26, 2019 8:34 am

Not sure if everybody has seen Breitling's newest Avengers already.

There is the Super Avenger Chronograph 48 and Chronograph 48 Night
Mission with DLC coated titanium cases, 300m WR, nice blue dials with
luminous hands, and markers, sporty straps, and Caliber 13 mechanical
chronograph movement.

Image

Followed by Avenger Chronograph 45 and Chronograph 45 Night Mission
with 45mm DLC coated cases, 300m WR, black, or green dials with cool
luminous markers, and hands, military style straps, and Caliber 13 there
behind everything.

Image

Avenger Automatic 45 Seawolf and 45 Seawolf Night Mission with 45mm
DKC coated case, 3,000m WR, yellow dial with luminous hands, and also
markers, anthracite military strap, bracelet, and Caliber 17 mechanical
movement.

Image

Then Avenger Automatic GMT 45 and GMT 45 Night Mission with it's
45mm DLC titanium case, 300m WR, black dials with luminous hands,
and markers, Caliber 32, sand military strap, and more.

Image

Followed by Breitling Avenger Chronograph 43 with 43mm stainless
steel case, 300m WR, black, or blue dial with luminous hands, and
markers, Caliber 17 movement, stainless steel bracelet, or anthracite
military strap.

Image

Avenger Automatic 43 with it's 43mm stainless steel case, 300m
water resistance, blue dials with luminous hands, and markers, the
Caliber 17 movement, and stainless steel bracelet, or blue military
strap.

Image

Then last, but not least, the Avenger Swiss Air Force Team Limited
Edition. Which has a 45mm stainless steel case, 300m WR, cool
black dials with luminous hands, and markers, special logo, the
Caliber 13, sleek military strap, and more.

New Breitling Avenger Collection

Post by tattoo chef » Thu Sep 26, 2019 8:42 am

I love that black gmt, but I screen capped the green Chrono the other day to send to someone and the price had gone up in a few days on the Breitling website.
*edit. Seems to be a screwup on their website. As we know Breitling up-charges for every little piece of metal, and there seems to be a typo on the site, but difference in price is between a tang buckle and a deployant push button clasp.

Those really are beautiful Don, but wow, that is crazy with the price like you are
showing. I mean they were just announced, and they have gone up already?!

Appreciate the info here sir. Thanks very much !

They used to have the most luxurious looking dials in their price range. I don't think that's true anymore.

Breitling usually comes off as trying too hard to me. They offer some of the busiest designs in the business, at least from a big name brand. Obviously, there are exceptions like the Superocean, but they often just feel over the top in my mind. I suppose I'm the anomaly, since Breitling is easily one of the best-selling brands in its price range, alongside TAG Heuer.

The dials were about the only thing I liked about some of their old watches. Both Breitling and TAG are not brands I’d consider.

Thanks Tom, like the GMT. Don't know why you'd black DLC a titanium case, but any how. Also Breitling should have left the lume white not piss colour.
I'd be getting any of these pre owned, and saving the huge depreciation hit for someone else.

I'm of two minds about Breitling. They have done some nice designs. I particularly like the Navitimer and the superocean/sea wolf/steelfish/colt layout with the steel bezel.

But they've always been an "in your face" brand. They were doing large watches back before it was trendy. Some of their designs are outright tacky and, while there are exceptions, their general mantra has been "what that watch needs is more polish." And most of them are too big for me - I imagine this group is no exception.

Don't mention it Jules ! You know it's a great point you make about the
black DLC titanium. Why cover that up right?!

Oh, and on the lume, it looks like they were going for a vintage, or tan look, but
I see what you are saying. The white would have been more traditional, and crisp.

Thanks as usual to ALL of YOU guys !!!

That 43mm Avenger chronograph isn’t a chronograph.

This one is DLC Ti and piss lume but I love it. The vintage lume was used sparingly so it’s not over the top and the DLC has held up great over the last 5 years.

This was my favorite of the new Avengers, but I'm bummed that it's still not a 'true' GMT despite Breitling definitely having movements with adjustable hour hand capability.

Image

Still looks dope tho.

My fave of the group. 45mm though, :banghead: . What is the L2L on this one? If 50mm, that is doable.

I didn't measure it (let's be honest, I don't travel with a set of calipers, but apparently I should?), but I've got a 6.5" wrist, and it wore totally fine. Seriously doubt it's 55mm – certainly felt a lot smaller than that.

Sweet, that case/DLC looks new. Having recently sold my 2004 Aerospace and replaced it recently with a LNIB older Seawolf, both with white markers, I find the white really contrasts against the darker dial. Breitling's lume runs rings around Rolex, or at least my Aerospace had amazing lume that lasted all night. And I used this as a bench mark for my other watches, regardless of the colour beit white or off white, so long as it's legible at night that's all that counts.

Wow, that DLC has held up super well. Very impressive, especially with a scratch-magnet bezel like that.
