Good idea or bad idea?
Considering selling my new Deepsea Blue and buying the white faced ceramic Daytona. I love the DS but I have a regular SD (16600) which is so nice and easy to wear. I also have a 16710 as well which I like to wear for work and travel (of course). Just considering it for the moment but the seed has been planted.
So, good idea or bad idea?

Hard to say. I've owned both the DSSD (regular version) and a pre-ceramic Daytona. The DSSD was just too big for me, but it's a terrific watch for a larger wristed person. As you note, the 16600 is a much more comfortable watch. I'd definitely pick it over the DSSD.
If you're looking for something nice and easy to wear, the Daytona absolutely fits that bill. However, it's harder to read the time (again, this was on the pre-ceramic version) and it doesn't have a date function (which is important to me, but you may not care). Plus the service costs on chronographs are on the high side, assuming you'd plan on keeping it that long.
Personally, if I had them now, I'd probably sell them both and pick up a 16710 and something else that would work better for me.

They're both nice watches, but really different. Do you want a big thick dive watch or a fairly small chronograph?
Re: Good idea or bad idea?
I would choose the Daytona over the DS, especially since you have the standard SD.
The Deepsea is too much of a good thing - too big, too thick, too heavy for me.

Good idea. Daytona over Deepsea any time IMO.

Daytona. White ceramic Daytona is a bit of a grail for me.
Re: Good idea or bad idea?
I would do it. White Daytona is nice!
Re: Good idea or bad idea?
Daytona! Since you have your diver covered with the SD. The white dialed ceramic Daytona looks incredible in my opinion (one I hope I own someday) and you have already enjoyed the DSSD. I wish I had any of those 3 but I'm happy I have a Sub-C ND so I can't complain.

Thanks all - definitely considering it. If I do it the trick will be selling the DS which is always not only a hassle but making sure not to get burnt in the process.

Hmm, I guess I’m the only one here that would pass on a white 116500. I was underwhelmed. But the crystal on that DSSD is soooo bad ass. Not sure I’d flip it.

I would suggest that everyone actually try on a Daytona before buying/trading. I was SHOCKED at how small mine was when I got it. Good for me, bad for most other people. It makes a five digit sub look big.

Agree. Too small for me.JP Chestnut wrote:I would suggest that everyone actually try on a Daytona before buying/trading. I was SHOCKED at how small mine was when I got it. Good for me, bad for most other people. It makes a five digit sub look big.

People used to complain about the size all the time. Now you almost never hear it mentioned. It’s a small watch.
Re: Good idea or bad idea?
I don't know if you had the steel bezel or the ceramic version, but I find the ceramic 116500 to wear a bit bigger than the steel bezel 116520. WIth the thickness, the 116520 is a bit small; but the 116500 is perfect and wears about the same as a 16600 IMO.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 7:31 pmI would suggest that everyone actually try on a Daytona before buying/trading. I have the 520 but I didn’t find the 500 all that different. I agree that they both have a 16600 vibe due to the relatively small dial and chunky bezels.blkgsl wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 10:20 pmI don't know if you had the steel bezel or the ceramic version, but I find the ceramic 116500 to wear a bit bigger than the steel bezel 116520. Even the fatter cased PM versions are pretty small.

Good idea!
Re: Good idea or bad idea?
It’s tiny I had one on last weekend and the ceramic bezel makes it look even smaller
Definitely a watch for under 7”wrists

Man that's too bad, I always thought Rob's (RALAustin) wrist pictures looked great but I don't know what size his wrist is.

Re: Good idea or bad idea?
It definitely wears smaller that my SubC. I've had the opportunity to model the ceramic Daytona several times and it fits great on my tiny wrist.

Re: Good idea or bad idea?
I had some time alone today so I grabbed a bunch of wrist shots for you. My phone is old and sucks, so the pictures aren’t good. Just for perspective, my wrist is well under 6.5 inches (maybe even under 6.25).
16600 sea dweller 116520 Daytona Together in the box Plastic Speedy Pro 42mm PO 2500 The Daytona is the best fitting sports watch I’ve ever tried on. Again, my wrist is well under 6.5 inches.

Re: Good idea or bad idea?
Traveling so no pics but I have both and love both. Daytona wears similar to if a bit smaller than an older no date sub and is much more comfortable than the DSsd. My wrist is about 7.4 or so and both work. Just depends on the look you want and if you want to forget about having a watch on your wrist or always know it is there!
