just finished these two.

American Gods was very good. Have you read Good Omens? With all these guys reading real littrachur, all I can say I'm revisiting the Discworld series. Always looking for good authors to feed my habit, is Corey any good?

Corey is great. Keep in mind it's a pen name for Daniel Abraham and Ty Franc. And their series (up to book 5 now) is what the syfy show the expanse is based on. Very good show as well, btw.

I like Marco Kloos's frontline series, Richard Morgan's Takeshi Kovac series, Scalzi's old mans war series, Wool series by Hugh Howey (and some good fan fic in that world).

I do a couple hundred books a year, 3-4 a week I'd say. I did these last week on vacation:

And I've done these so far this week:

Probably do this on the plane Friday (United, of course, because I like the exclusivity):

Posting this response here because ShitA'Talk says my message replies aren't going anywhere so, to answer the question:

I liked Ferris's book. I've never heard of him before but I'm going to check out his podcast now. Yesterday at morning coffee a guy at work recommended it so I read it last night; I like the way he correlated the information, I liked his perspective and notes he added. Overall I liked it.

Check out Jocko Willink's podcast as well. Very well done- Tim Ferris and Joe Rogan kind of pushed him to make one, and his has been killing it.

Bull Mountain, great crime novel of Georgia mountain country.
The Other Side of Silence, the 11th in the Bernie Gunther series about a hard boiled detective in Nazi Germany.
Sapiens, excellent non fiction about...everything.
How We Got to Now, Emergence and The Ghost Map, all by Steven Johnson-about different aspects of history, culture and technology. Highly recommended.
And I finally read The Right Stuff, which I should have read years ago. Essential reading.

I gave up on Clancy about the time he decide to make Jack Ryan President. The books just became silly and contrived to me.

Just read the DARPA book. Great short history of ARPA now DARPA and the JASONS etc. The Tim Ferris show podcast is great. Pissed a friend of mines wife off because he would not stop listening to it after i recommended it. Hardcore History is my favorite podcast the "wrath of the Khans" series is ridiculously epic. Reading Peter Harts book "The Somme" fantastic history. Recently read Craig Nelsons book "Rocket men" about the space program another great book. A short fun read was "The Graveyard book" by Neil Gaiman. Reading his "American Gods" now. Also getting done with Nick Blanfords great book "Warriors of God" about Hezbollah's history.

Nelson DeMille's John Corey is a solid character; first seen in Plum Island.

There are currently seven John Corey books in print.

Read the Day By Day Books a while back. Mindless, but entertaining.

Unfortunately, they got worse as he wrote more of them. There's a fourth one out, but I'm leery to pick it up after the really awful third one. The first two aren't bad though.
