My second "dive with a 30m WR watch" test
Re: My second
Thanks! For the price of admission to the Hodinke party, you could test 7000 watches!

You're the best Andrea. Thinking about sending you the Casio Expedition I use as a desk clock. It's about 10-12 years old.

Re: My second
If you weren't so dead set on "respectable" watch brands, I'd suggest a Marina Militare just for grins.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

There's nothing about this that isn't brilliant.
Keep up the good work.

Re: My second
I use flash strobes rated to 30m, and these are explicitly designed for underwater use. I have had them down to 47m without problem.

Greatness!

This sounds like a bargainSeppia wrote:And I would only charge you $50 a pop for the privilege of talking to me about the experience.
You'd have to submit a resume first though

If you can afford it, perhaps something with MEMS on your next dive ;-)
Re: My second
I didn't realize that dive watches can actually go under water.
Re: My second
So cool Seppia, and really really fun to see !
What a cool thing to try. Thanks so much for doing this once again !

Re: My second
Thanks for this. I'm pretty tired of reading statements akin to, "only 100 meters water resistance? Well, I guess you're okay washing your hands with the watch on, but I wouldn't get it any wetter than that."
Re: My second
Washing vigorously creates enough force that any watch with less than 100m will immediately be flooded. FACT!JBZ wrote:Thanks for this. Re: My second
But but...I learned on WUS that the spray pressure from a shower head easily exceeds 100 meters depth equivalent!
Does this test mean I no longer have to vacuum seal my 300 meter diver and carry it in Tupperware when it rains?

As long as you don't have a black market Yugoslavian high flow shower head, you should be ok.Americandave wrote:But but...I learned on WUS that the spray pressure from a shower head easily exceeds 100 meters depth equivalent!

Re: My second "dive with a 30m WR watch" test
And what about the force created by my extremely powerful back stroke? I've read that the impact force and power of my stroke may be many times more (I'm a strong paddler) than static pressure.
Make sure that the shower isn't hot, apparently the hot water will cause the case and seals to expand at different rates and cause it to leak.

Sounds great, looking forward to pics, although if you're doing rescue diver, you'll be busy.
