Baume & Mercier Men's MOA08502 Capeland S Chronograph

Post by toxicavenger » Thu Jun 17, 2010 1:15 pm

I was offered a trade for my Marcello C chrono and didn't know if anyone here has actually owned one of these before? Or what is the opinion of them? Are they tough as hell or only for desk jockeys because I don't want all bling with no ass to it. Thanks ahead of time, Terry

I did a quick Google, and from a value point of view, I think it might be a winner. B&M is a good watch and the gray market price new is around $2000.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

I have a version of the Capeland S. It is not a tool watch so don't expect it to be tough. The bezel is a scratch magnet (I have a couple on mine). But quality wise B&M makes a fine watch.

Thanks guys for the info and I really haven't decided if I am going to do the deal yet since I will be trading 2 watches for the Capeland. Also my wife had bought me the Marcello C chrono as a surprise for x-mas so I am not totally sure about letting it leave my hands. She said she is fine with it if I trade it but I am not totally sure if that is the truth. Because we know how women are about telling you everything. So I have to do some serious thinking before I do it. But the Marcello C chrono is such a damn beast it gets heavy after a while since it is 249 grams at 44mm x 17mm. Well please give me your honest opinions.

Also Ron Jr, thanks for the pic and info. That is one beautiful watch you have too.

Is this red lume or is it just red paint? I pimp the hell out of that thing if it was mine.

Seriously though - I'd hang onto it if it was a gift from the wife. I've got a couple that don't get worn a ton, but will never leave the watchbox b/c my wife bought 'em for me. Maybe that's just me, but usually I'll try to find money elsewhere.

I probably wouldn't do the trade either way. It's not a watch you really want. You like Marcello C as a company. Plus, it's a gift. Take a couple steps back and make sure it's not just an impulse decision since you're antsy to get a trade going. I've fallen into that trap a lot and always regret it later.

Thanks Matt for the feedback because that is what I am also thinking right now too. So I guess I am just going to get a relume on the chrono and keep it around for a while. Thanks again and have a good weekend!

i prefer the non chrono myself. But the B&M brand makes some solid watches. I wouldnt flip a gift from the wife, or any gift.

Just take it to Jay to relume the bad boy :fro:

I got a chance to handle some B&M watches on Father's day at the local jewelry store. Some very nice models among their line. F&F was good and they seemed to be nicely wearable in how the lugs and other aspects of the design were thought out IMHO. Nearly all were dress watches though and I just don't do dress watches very often.....the wife liked them a lot.

One thing about that bike, you know you can knock him down in price pretty easily given he has no balls.

AAAaahhhh wives.

Not been married very long toxic? No speaky wifey?

It translates like this, "go ahead, trade that watch off Honey (note: word 'honey' is dripping with venom). You'll never get another fugging watch from me!" "Oh, and I'll suddenly hate every watch you get in the future"

Trust me on this one, hang on to that Marcello until you can ceramoniously pass it on to a beloved male relative (of hers), your son perhaps. Till then, give it some wrist time even.
