New Subs

Post by HalifaxNS » Sun Apr 25, 2010 6:58 am

Thought id share some good shots of the new subs and explorer. I doubt you can find bigger pics on the net, I got them from a Rolex Basel2010 press kit with discs. I also have a Tudor one with shots of the new heritage, still gotta transfer them to jpeg.

Turns out the Air King was the cheapest at 4,870.
The Explorer (114207) is listed at 5,780. The Explore II gmt's (16570)white and black dial are listed at 6,870. Not sure if its the new explorers priced but I think so.
The blue subs are listed over 30,000 :o . I like the milgauss at 7,200. Nice watch. "Prices are suggested retail prices only".
My landlord sells Rolex as a local dealer, iv bin driving around furniture for him refusing gas money and asking for watch swag  , got some cool mags. Ill have to ask him his max discount  .

I too find the new case shape in conjunction with the bracelet a bit odd-appearing. Maybe it will grow on me in time.

Kind of like the taper. I've come to like how the taper looks once watch is on the wrist.

I think Rolex has messed up their entire line of classic watches with this super case, ceramic, blinged out bracelet thing. Yea, the new clasp is the absolute shizzle but damn, a 39mm EXP and a supercase sub? Come on, why mess with perfection?

+1 on that. Not too thrilled with the supercase and colorway (read ceramic blue and green) of the subs. I think 'plastic' when i see the green and blue bezels. Is the bezel lume dot on these taller than usual ?

Ian

Gotta agree with you there David. They look like toys now, plastic toys. Gotta find me a 16610 one of these days. Sigh.

i think Rolex just has bad timing, the re-done bracelets are past-due, and i dont think we are ready for a "maxi" case yet.

those prices are pretty tall..... :crybaby:

My biggest complaint with the Rolex besides the price is the bracelet. I am glad they updated it but I agree the watch looks like plastic. And the prices are stupid! :bootyshake:

haha... you're all a bunch of haters!!!

I'll never own one of these, but I think they look cool. Of course I am an equal opportunity WIS wannabe in that I actually like just about any watch, so what do I know?!

I like the 'maxi' dials on those subs, but I prefer the older case and bracelet style. Doesn't mean I'd kick one outta bed for eatin crackers, but I'm not about to drop that kinda mad cash on a new one either (well, just yet).

I'm with you, Paul. I dig the "supercase".

Hated it at first, but came around slowly after seeing it enough (and in person). I think it'll be the same for most folks (yes, including all you haters). Now, I just see it as two different styles of the Sub, and I love 'em both. Just because there are two styles, doesn't mean you have to choose sides!

Handled one of the white gold subs with the lighter blue dial and they are much nicer than the old ones. I really like this new case and colors

Like the new cases and Maxi dial is a great improvement. I wish Rolex would step up to the plate and increase there bracelet mm to at least 22 mm and not taper so severely. The DeepSea at 43 mm would be rocking with a 23-24 mm bracelet tapering to 20-21 mm IMO. The new Sub SS looks overall very good to me, very happy they did not ruin it with polished center links.
