Halios Laguna

Post by carlodwc » Thu Sep 26, 2013 8:27 pm

I read a lot about Micro brands and it seemed to me that Halios appeared to be a good one. When recently I got one I was impressed. The watch is a model called Laguna and it has some feature that I like a lot, two crowns and an internal rotating bezel. The watch is really solid. Even though it is not larger it almost feels heavier then the JSAR. The finish is nice and the look is just what I wanted. It is not perfect of course, but it is really well made and it is shaped for wearing, I mean it comfortably sits on my wrist and the bottom of the case almost follows the shape of it. It is also not too thick and therefore it has a low profile on the wrist.

At 44mm it is not the largest diver watch but the cushion shape of the case and the large resulting dial gives it a good wrist presence. The lume is awesome and lasts all night. The movement is the usual Swiss ETA 2824 and while not the top of the line it produces a smooth sweep of the second hand that is a joy to watch.

The hands are really nice too even if I wish they were shaped a little differently. Since they are pretty good anyway I won’t touch or try to replace them. At least not yet…

It comes with the bracelet and I believe there was also an Isofrane rubber strap with it but since I got it used this last was not included.

Personally I am very happy to have been able to get this piece here and as a matter of fact I got another one that I cannot show yet..

Here are a few pics, I hope you enjoy despite the dust specs…

Great watch. Killer value. Did you trade the blue dial for the black or do you have both now?

I have both... this black one was my birthday present, the blue will be my Christmas present... ;)

I got to try Barry's on; great feel on the wrist and looks to match!

Wonderful pictures and congrats on the watch.

Halos makes a heck of a watch, and the lume is killer.

Have liked these from afar. I haven't handled one but hear nothing but good things from owners about the watch and the company. Congratulations.

Congrats! I've contemplated picking up a Laguna as well. They're nicely executed.

Congrats. Jason makes some awesome watches but the Laguna is my favorite so far (haven't owned any if the new models yet).

The Laguna has a cool retro-ish vibe but is a thoroughly modern, bad ass diver. Enjoy!

Congrats! The Laguna was my second watch purchase after I got our shared "sickness" - at nellipj's suggestion. It remains the best watch in my box (for now); I highly recommend it. It looks great with a suit or casual, is easy to read, and rides very comfortably on the wrist for such a heavy watch. It typically comes in a very nice wooden box with magnets that hold the lid closed; inside are compartments for the watch and bracelet, the included Iso, a watch tool, a screwdriver, extra links, and the serial number card.

Carlo, congrats. I have had a Halios or two and I think that Jason makes and offers a great watch and a great overall package. Excellent look, killer legibility, wonderful service to back up your watch, great bracelet/strap option, excellent lume... and the 2824 motor sets a solid standard. I have seen pictures of Kris's watch with the blue dial and it just rocks.

Congrats on a good one!

Thank you guys and I am certainly happy to have this. It does have a good pedigree but I can attest that I can feel it when holding it in my hands, it is almost as I can perceive the solid quality of the watch just by holding it. Kudos to Halios for making such a great watch!

Hey, Happy Birthday Carlo !!! :cake:

Can see how this watch got your attention sir. Like you said the dueling crowns,
along with inner rotating bezel rock. Kind of pays homage to all of those amazing
vintage dive watches like this, while being 100% modern also. It's beautiful really.

Big congrats Carlo ! Happy Birthday once again, and Merry Christmas ! :excited:

Thank you Tom, my birthday was a couple of weeks ago. I just did not get a chance to take pics and put together a little introduction to the watch...

But yeah, it has a bit of a vintage flair even though I could not find an exact watch this would pay homage too. I guess it takes some clues from different watches: dial, case, crown, etc. Of course I don't know all the watches that are around...

However one thing is certain it has moved into the "keeper" category (Yeah I know... :raised: who believes that?...) at least for the time being.

Don't mention it sir. Happy Birthday once again ! :)

Such a great watch, and you are right about it not paying homage to any one
watch either I think. Kind of more a tribute to a style, like used with the old
Bulova Accutrons like the snorkel maybe.

Definitely seems like a keeper that's for sure.

I've always wanted to try a blue or grey dial one but they are hard to come by on the forums pre owned.

Enjoy it!

None of these are often around on the sales forum in fact. Need a little luck... ;)
