I'm a writer. Mostly boring stuff, from e-mail spam to trade journal articles. Then occasionally I get to write travel pieces and watch reviews, which makes the boring stuff worth it.

Currently a Federal LEO and Emergency Manager.
Formerly: Paramedic/FF/HazMat Tech; Microbio Lab Rat; Munitions Tech. In my youth I was also a carpenter, pump jockey and a fish monger. I am a true jack of all trades, master of none - suffering from a serious untreated case of vocational ADD.

Yeah, but they've all required an education.
Mine (some college)... grocery/produce; delivery/truck driver; oil field equipment sales; laser equipment; off road racing; horse show/rodeo announcer; voice-over; TV and Film (both sides of the camera); now unemployed. I'm trying to figure out what to trade to jack next.

I sit on the board of my family's import/export business. I must admit though that I rarely work. I travel quite extensively between Europe, the Caribbean, and occasionally the US (when the mood strikes me). I am fortunate and I take full advantage of my good fortune.

Well pumping gas didn't require too much smarts, but filleting fish does mean you need to count to ten...you know, to make sure you got all your fingers at the end of the day.
Yeah, ask any of my friends, I am horribly over-educated. After a while I think all that book learning makes your brain soft. It's only been the last few years that I have not been in some kind of academy or college program. If it was not for the crush of my workload and travel, I am quite sure I would have had my dumb ass enrolled in a PhD program by now.
Then I could be as pretentious as Connie
..."My friends call me Doug, you can call me Doctor. Careful...Mind you don't smudge the crystal of my Vacheron Constantin. It was a gift from the Third Earl of Bumfock."

And I'm studying marine engineering. Finishing the first of probably five years now. You'll know that I'm finished when the new builds arrive at the docks keel up.

I used to be a maintenance electrician in a factory.
Now I'm mostly a couch potato with this boat project sitting in the driveway.

Yeah, I hear you there. I am continuously amazed how many of them are idiots and have huge ego's to boot. I think most of the ones I know are pretty incompetent. Luckily my firm has a great reputation for being easy to work with, and we do a lot of owner and developer work since we are down to earth and give clients a great service.

No paying job, but just received the Award for Excellence from the guy (four stars) who runs the Air Force. Served four years on the Air Force Retiree Counci. Kicked some serious ass for military retirees.
Volunteer to help others/swim laps/drive 3 BMWs/read good books/collect watches (up to 50 so far)/participate in watch forums/love my spouse/love my dogs/talk to my Africacan Gray parrot - he talks back/ and almost forgot - polish all three BMWs!
Just remember that someone has to do this - might as well be me! Dave Whitford@Guam

I'm a Cisco network engineer/guy/CCNA, but right now they just have me adjusting these stupid cameras. I told them " it's your money"
Just glad to be working again and this will work until I can find something.. better!
These cameras have nice Macro lenses. They use them in the school districts.
