Re: Tapatalk
So the new VerticalScope Fora Communities App absolutely sucks!
I knew this would be the case, but every picture I've ever posted in my forums through Tapatalk are no longer visible.
Tapatalk had its faults, but it was extremely convenient.

Yes, their proprietary app is total shit. Makes Tapatalk look amazing by comparison.59yukon01 wrote:So the new VerticalScope Fora Communities App absolutely sucks!

I’ll likely rarely visit any VerticalScope forums, which I suspect with be the case for many many others. Maybe one day they will realize this was a big mistake.
Re: Tapatalk
Yeah, it’s pretty annoying. I don’t see myself using any of their forums anywhere near as much as I dis, which admittedly wasn’t much in the first place.hoppyjr wrote:

Re: Tapatalk
The solution is for Wu to buy out VerticalScope.
Re: Tapatalk
One thing that helps:
When viewing WUS in the VS app; select the “new” tab at bottom of screen. Once there, click on filters on upper left, then you can select options and save as default. In my case, I saved “discussions in which you participated in” to see those threads as default. Then check the box to make that your default list.

Fora works fine for me. Didn’t really have any problems with it, though I keep forgetting the notifications is on the bottom of the screen when I keep tapping my profile picture to check the notifs.59yukon01 wrote:So the new VerticalScope Fora Communities App absolutely sucks!

Thanks... That's helpful. Now if I can just figure out if you can copy and paste the same post, with pictures, to multiple threads.hoppyjr wrote:One thing that helps:

You can with text, but doesn't seem to allow the media to carry over.
It was simple with Tapatalk.

It works fine. Its features just suck compared to Tapatalk as far as I'm concerned.Raykv23 wrote:Fora works fine for me. Feels like a death sentence for WUS, terrible as Tapatalk was, it was at least convenient. Definitely don’t see myself bothering with the hassle of a new app and process.

Re: Tapatalk
Not to bump an old thread, but I just had the oddest interaction with someone on WUS trying to buy a watch I have up for sale.
The guy had only 2 posts but was a member since 2020.
I said I was a bit uncomfortable selling to a user with such a minimal reputation built up, but figured we all had to start someplace. I offered to connect with him on LinkedIn (figuring it was an easy way to verify we were both real folks) but he declined.
I ended up walking on the deal. Maybe he was legit, but there are just too many red flags.
I guess I could've said PP F&F. It isn't that I care about the fee's, it is just that I don't want to deal with the potential horror stories.
If nothing else, selling on WUS is always good for a story.

Re: Tapatalk
The added problem with Paypal is that if the watch you're selling is over $600, and you accept G&S, you're going to get a 1099. I'm sure you already know that, but that's the reason I'll never take paypal again unless it's F&F. Most of my sales any more (although I'm a lot less of a flipper these days) have been on WUS, simply because my watches haven't sold here and I can't figure out reddit.Ryeguy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 1:27 pmNot to bump an old thread, but I just had the oddest interaction with someone on WUS trying to buy a watch I have up for sale.

I wouldn’t worry so much about the 1099s if selling personal items. I don't want the hassle of reporting it on my taxes. And just on principal - if you did happen to profit on a sale, it counts as income, but if you lose money (as is nearly always the case) it doesn't count as a loss against your income. I'm just not dealing with it.nweash wrote:I wouldn’t worry so much about the 1099s if selling personal items. Re: Tapatalk
Yup, paypal, venmo, and other payment services are now required to issue a 1099 for any G&S payments over $600. So even if it doesn't create a taxable event, you still have to report it. As someone who used to churn through a lot of watches, it would have been a lot of extra record keeping. If you could write off the losses it'd be one thing, but you can't.Panerai7 wrote:Didn’t know about 1099. Yep. That’s why all sales for our small business are cash or credit cards via our Shopify Point of Sale (POS) system. I don’t want to have to about for PP, Venmo, Cash App, and/or Zelle sales too. Hell, sales taxes are already a PITA to process with one POS system.jswing wrote:Yup, paypal, venmo, and other payment services are now required to issue a 1099 for any G&S payments over $600. Watch sales are now check if I know you, or only PP F&F or wire transfer if I don’t.
