Hey guys,
Now that my Speedy is truly gone, and I'm having doubts about dropping $4K on a Bremont, I've been looking for a good, reasonably priced pilot chronograph and came across the Steinhart Nav-B Chrono 44. Anyone have experience/opinions on this watch or the company?
Thanks!

I honestly have only dealt with them once when Debaufre screwed up some stuff on a watch and they were perfect to deal with. I don't know how they are currently though.
I really like that Nav chrono also.

Had this one a while back, I liked it!

My mint condition Laco Kiel Pilot Chronograph was for sale here for like 3 weeks
Even new it's a great option at a reasonable price.

I have the Bronze 44mm and am quite happy with it. Great price point and great strap.

I've had two Steinharts and can't complain about them. Nice watches for the money.
Not sure if you remember but I had my Nav B (sub seconds) when we met in Chicago. Its a very nice watch (which I sold to get the SAS).... but I may pick up one again in the future.
Haven't heard anything bad regarding the chrono model.

I think Steinhart makes a nice looking watch, and the prices are obviously good. I've given some thought to purchasing the ocean vintage military for a beater (I love the milsub look, and there's no way I'd ever be able to afford a real one). That said, there are quite a few reports of problems and poor customer service, so I'd be a little wary if you're buying new.
Also, if you're really thinking Bremont, you will most likely find the Steinhart to be a poor substitute in a relatively short period of time.
Have you looked into Hamilton? I think the Khaki X-Wind is a sharp looking watch, and they also carry a pilot chrono. Certainly more expensive than the Steinhart, but I imagine you can get a pretty good discount on the grey market or if you buy second-hand.

They make a very cool DLC pilot chrono.

i enjoy the hell outta my fake 1655. of course, i got it second-hand from Ryguy after
he got the GMT hand aligned properly
i've heard they're less than responsive these days. second-hand market from known seller may be the way to go these days

I bought a watch directly from Steinhart, ideal transaction.

Keep saving for the Bremont. You know that's the one you want.

I agree. A little bit of difficulty makes finally getting something much more rewarding. If the OP is really worried about it, a nice round birthday or other life milestone makes for a good justification. I could never bring myself to pay the going rate for a really nice 16600 and saw them go up year after year, while buying other watches. Finally I bit the bullet, paid the price, and got one for my 35th birthday. It was the only way I would feel comfortable.

No experience really Tony, but think they are pretty great looking, and if you
have had your eye on one to go for it. You really can't go wrong with one, and
then later on you can get that Bremont too !

Just a thought sir.

Thanks guys. Just what I need; Bremont enablers.

I'm trying to be responsible!

Money spent on an unnecessary purchase of something you don't really want, is money wasted IMO. Get what you want, Bremont or not.

What's not responsible is buying something you don't want, then, buying what you really want afterwards costing you even more money

Yep. I totally agree. Spending money on a watch you don't really need, and don't really want, is the worst use of cash possible. Either get what you want, or save the money and use your phone to tell the time.

I should have known better than to use the word "responsible" with you guys!
I'm probably an outlier on here, but I tend to love my cheaper watches as much, or more, than my expensive ones (and now that the Speedy is gone my most expensive watch - Laguna - is worth about $700.) So the idea of having a $1,000 Steinhart Chrono has a lot of appeal to me - maybe as much as having a $4,000 Bremont. We'll see.

Good watch for the money. I had the LE chrono with gold hands.
Great customer service.
