Some updated pics of the Kobold AD Tactical.....

Post by GGD » Sun Dec 20, 2009 3:26 am

G'day all -

have been flatstick with work the last few weeks and haven't been able to check out the forum much. I love the DWC header BTW

Thought you might like to see some updated pics of the AD TAC on one of my many strap options

I'm waiting for the Kobold rubber to see how that wears, and also a custom leather from Rob Montana..... will post pics when they arrive. But in the meantime my zulu strap addiction is in full force.

First up is the grey 4-ring zulu w' LL hardware from Panatime.....

Next up is the Black rubber with Blue stitching from Panatime (swapped out the buckle to PVD to match)..... nice soft rubber but as you can tell in the pics it's the dust / lint magnet from hell :banghead:

Next up is the Strap Culture Leather with PVD buckle..... the added thickness of the leather really helps balance out the weight of the watch head as opposed to when it's on a zulu strap..... I'm not normally a big fan of leather straps but I think it suits the Kobold style of watch with the wider lugs.

Excuse the dust, I took a couple of quick pics today just before I left work.

That is a stunning watch and the first Zulu combo you have there is perfection. What a clean design.

I don't normally like leather on a diver but on Kobolds, it always works for some reason.

Great looking Kobold, and it is balanced nicely on the leather.

Wow. Those are stunning and a great inspiration for my PVD watch!

I'm hitting Panatime now.

Is the PVD a Kobold option or did you have it done after purchase. Looks really good!

It was a LE option. I bet KWC still has a few around.

Thanks guys

Well, the Kobold custom rubber dive strap arrived today..... this thing is awesome!!!

A really nice thick rubber strap that is still pliable enough to be comfortable.

I had some issues getting the strap to fit first time around and managed to completely destroy a set of screwbars in the process :banghead:

Much swearing & aggravation ensued before I used a very small drill bit to clean out the holes in the rubber a fraction so that the screwbars had just a tiny bit more room to slide thru..... it was easy peasy after that.

Anyway, here's some Q & D's of the end result.....

What I really like about the design of this strap is its thick at the lugs and tapers thinner at the buckle. I'll bet is very comfortable.

Spot on mate.... if it was as thick at the buckle (where it sits on the inside of your wrist) it would be nowhere near as comfortable. It looks like Kobold really put some thought into this one & it fits the watch perfectly.

Looks great on all the straps, like the Nato's the best, but that Kobold rubber looks very cool.

I also like the way its designed to fit against the case. Reminds me of the rubber strap made to fit the PO. You have got to stop posting pictures of the AD, they're causing me to want one.

What I really like is the logo is on the inside of the strap (so you can wear it on another brand). I wish the Sinn rubber was available without the logo. Don't get me wrong, I want a U1 and would love the logo rubber on it. But it would seem odd (to ME) to have a non-Sinn watch on it. (And yet the deployment wouldn't bug me)
