Elgin Military timer WW2

Here is a Elgin timer or stopwatch size 16,7 jewel,short pendent case,grade 469, made in 1943.I got a good deal on this one at a antique fair for 20.00 did not work what a little oil in the right spot's will do work's great now.

Also had to replace the crystal had a plastic one that turned yellow over time.I replaced it with a glass one.

If you get a chance, would you elaborate on replacing the crystal with glass?
