Been going on for a while. They had, I think, planned to do this a few years ago and got put on a slower timetable for phasing out supplying non-Swatch watch companies by whatever organization regulates Swiss industry.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Don't know if you read the link or not, but it's NOT the old. "We're not selling ebauches" thing.
They claim they're not selling DIDDLYSQUAT that they make to non-swatch customers.
No 7750's, 2824's, no quartzes, no crystals, cases, widgets or candlesticks.

You're right, of course. I skimmed the article and didn't catch everything. 7750's and 6497's could put a ding in Panerai. Is Sellita ramping up on 7750 and 6497 replacements?

I think this might backfire on Swatch to be honest. I don't know what Panerai is going to do without widgets.

Damn. That would be insane! I bet Jason Recliner is totally jerking it. This could signal a real sea change if they are serious.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think Hayek says it's like 7 or 8% of net.
They'd make it back easy squeezing out competition and jacking prices I'm sure.
Hardball for sure.

Concerning for sure. Hopefully something will get worked out, not sure this would be a good thing in any way for the industry.

Just think how happy Jason Recliner will be when all the sapphire is mined... Then Mineral Glass on Seikos will truly be KING..

I emailed them 2 weeks ago, and they told me complete movements will still be sold.
Most likely the usual media '' Miss quote '' guys.

I mean, has a British newspaper ever been a little sensational, miss quoted somebody, or just plan made up a story?
YES, YES, and YES!
8% of sales is huge, and it stops other companies breaking in and growing. And perhaps making something better! That would not be good for their brands then.
To have announced years ago, that they would stop selling ebauches, and then on the 11th hour just pulled the whole carpet out from under everybody. Well i dont think they would get away with it. And i cant see why they would want to either.
Hope i am wrong, because if not, i am F*&^ed!
