New 36mm/30mm Smiths Military watches from Timefactors?

Post by manitoujoe » Sun Jun 06, 2010 1:45 am

What do you all think? I may have a line on a 36mm one, but I'm freaked about the size.

That said, the watch's look really draws me in.

Help? Advice?

Hey mate - are these the one's you mean?

http://www.timefactors.com/smiths.htm

That link has them listed at 36mm and 39mm and even has a pic of both sizes on a 7.5" wrist which is very helpful

IMO the 36mm looks too small

I like the look of them, and you could probably deal with the 39mm but 36mm might be pushing for a man who wore a CSAR and now sports a UTS! Just think about the difference b/w your TSAR and your JSAR and that's probably a similar size difference, but that much smaller than the TSAR?

They do look cool though.

You can still get a Vintage issue Smiths and the one made in the 1960's has a better looking movement is has a gold flash colored movement and will hold it's value better.
Here are some photo's of a real one it's not mine I wish it was.

I think they sell for the same price right now if you can find a original for sell.

Haha. What am I thinking? That 36mm is the size of the crystal on my JSAR!!!

They just look so...clean and cool. But the cost is kind of high, too.

Hm. Thanks everybody!!

Ahhh, Smiths! The other Everest watch. Here's a nice, short reference for the Smiths virgins out there : http://www.broadarrow.net/smiths.htm

Wow. The original not only looks great, but has quite a history as well.

I guess when it comes down to it, even a watch with seemingly low tolerances for water, etc can be quite rugged and adventurous.

Anyone have experience with acrylic crystals? I've heard they scratch easy, but you can buff them out very easily.

Hm..

My Tudor snowflake sub has a acrylic crystal original to the watch and it holds up OK.Some time's I use poly watch to buff out a few scratches.

That is so cool. I think I may have to re-think acrylic. Thanks, amigo!!
