Doxa lovers... $400 for an extra 1mm and HRV worth it?

Post by ikkoku » Wed Dec 09, 2009 6:35 pm

So Doxa is coming out with the 1200T HRV... early presales price is 1890. as far as I can tell, the 1000t can still be had for 1490 if I click on the Order Here link. Same width as the 1000T but just a mm thicker. minor cosmetics changes. BUT it does come with the GMT bracelet and can go 200M deeper. Is this worth the 26% increase in price? I see 1000T used prices will fall even further as people will want the 1200T instead in the secondary market.

actually.. to correct the post. introductory price is 1590.... after that it's 1890.
If I was in the market for one, I'd probably spring the extra 100 and get the 1200T...

Sorry man ... I couldn't find a pic in the official forum

Are any of the watches we buy truly worth it for the price we pay? I guess to the ones that buy the 1200 it is. It's a fine watch, but I'm a 750 guy myself. That's the only one DOXA had to make as far as I'm concerned. Well, that and the T-Graph.

Simple answer is no, not to me anyway, but I don't 'pay' retail anyway, so what do I know? :fro:

I prefer the 1000T as is. No problem with the thinner bracelet on the smaller-cased watch. It's really comfortable. Might be worth it to some people, but I wouldn't pay the extra for the extras. JMO.

Haven't they stopped making the 1000T?

The original price of the 1000T was $2390 and most folks
could get them for $1900...

So, the $1890 seems to be in line with their pricing--my guess is they want to sell
out the remaining 1000T's..

Is it worth the extra $???--

Depends on how badly you want one....

Just my .02 .........

GMT bracelet is killer so I like that route they are going. I don't dive too much anymore and probably won't ever have a need for a He valve ever-just another possible leak port in th future. I'd prefer no He valve at all but if I liked the watch wouldn't care either. The extra$$$$$$ who knows really

I like the looks of the GMT bracelet. I've got a 5000T - no comparison really, but the 1000T's did nothing for me. A larger case and the gmt bracelet are nice kickers. But is it worth the money? Hell, I think David hit it spot on - are ANY of these watches really worth the money? I figure worth as being totally subjective. One man's junk is another man's treasure as the saying goes. (I'm not calling any Doxa junk just so y'all know) I'd like to see more of the 750t's reissued - or pick up a 750T searambler one of these days on the used market. Doxa's pre-order price is pretty good though, but not when you factor in that you could get a 1000T for close to it and what, really, are you missing out on? Unless you sat dive, hev is pretty much useless (though oddly a sought-after feature). Granted almost every diver i have has one, but that's not why I bought them. I plopped down the summer sale price on the 5000T and i felt that was still steep. No way in hell would I have paid msrp of $2990 on it, though, but that's me.

In the end, it's a matter of taste and whether the marginally thicker case, different bracelet and hev are worth the price difference.

Oh yeah, put some pics of that 1200T in here :worthless:

I don't think any company would price a new offering the same as
inventory they are trying to sell at discounted prices..

Would you buy it for $1590, $1690?

If you want the watch and plan on keeping it then buy it. If you plan
on flipping it then maybe wait until they start showing up on the Sales Forum.

I think the pre-order price is pretty good, and I think it will be a nice watch. If they had put out a divingstar version, I would have already pre-ordered. I can't believe they haven't yet reissued the 750s, as I think those would sell well if at a reasonable price point.

To me the new 12oo is very interesting due to the fact that it`s supposed to have a flatter caseback, wich would probably make it a better fit for my skinny wrist.
Is there any chance of still getting one for the preorder price?

Pre-order price should be available on all three (Pro - Orange, SR - Silver and SH - Black) until Dec 31, hold on for the link...be back in a flash.

EDIT:

Here is the page on the DOXA Forum at WUS: http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=330565

Here is the bottomline copied from that thread...

The Price from TODAY until December 31st is $1,590.00 + $45.00 Shipping. The 1200T HRV will be priced at $1,890.00 starting January 1st, 2010. Consider this our early “holiday gift to you”.

We are taking orders NOW for the Professional and Sharkhunter version, and if you would like to order the Searambler at the pre-order price you can still do so.

If you would like to order one of these watches, please use the link below:

Important – if you have already pre-ordered the Searambler – DO NOT USE THE SEARAMBLER LINK to complete your order. We will be sending the order completion links via email and will post them in a specific thread.

Professional
https://www.doxasub.com/Order/order.aspx?ID=188

Sharkhunter https://www.doxasub.com/Order/order.aspx?ID=189

Searambler https://www.doxasub.com/Order/order.aspx?ID=190

IMPORTANT – these are pre-order links and the usual terms and conditions apply, so PLEASE – read the terms and conditions carefully!

The 1200T will be priced at $1,890 plus shipping starting January 1st, 2010, so this is a very limited time opportunity to pick up the latest DOXA SUB at this fantastic price!

Just need to commit by 31 December. It is tempting, since I have only a 1000T Pro and a 5000T Carib. This could be an opportunity for a SR, although the SR T-Graph is super sweet. Too bad there is no DS edition 1200T.

SR 1200Ts have shipped, but TMK there are still no pics of the Pro or the Sharkhunter 1200T.

Like DMB, I'm a 750T guy. But the 1200 seems like a pretty impressive deal at the pre-order, factoring in the GMT bracelet and especially when considering how much Doxa charges for the bracelet alone :o

I like the fact that they toned down the silver on the 1200 Searambler because it keeps the 750T Ramblers that much more special, imo. I couldn't be happier with my 750T's. The dial on the 1200 rambler looks pretty much the same tone as the newer 600 t-graph ramblers.
