Any PAM love?
Any PAM love?
I've itching for a new acquisition. Have been looking hard recently at various UTS pieces as well as a PO. Actually had a PO in my hands Saturday night but couldn't go through with the deal (insane fire sale deal from a store going out of business-42% off!-but they had given the warranty cards to some other unknown customer
). I've never really liked Panerai, but recently I just can't get them out of my head. You never see them in my neck of the woods, so they're sort of under-the-radar (though not exactly subtle). Like the classic simplicity and good looks. And if I had the funds, I think the 312 might be my perfect Panerai (though I'm sure the date is a turnoff for some). I think I'm a sandwich dial fan. Anyone with opinions on these-pro or con? I'm willing to be swayed away, back to a nice, reliable PO. Pics are a bonus.

Re: Any PAM love?
There are many that look so similar, they're difficult to tell apart. Here are a couple of breakdowns.
What case style you want, Luminor, Radiomir or Luminor 1950?
Do you want a second subdial or not?
Do you want a painted dial or a sandwich dial?
Do you want a hand wound mechanism or an automatic?
Historic - Hand wound
Contemporary - Automatic
Manifattura - In house movement
If you look on Paneristi.com at the dealer's section, you'll see loads of pictures. From 3K Pams to 90K vintage Pams. Sometimes the combination that you want doesn't exist. I would prefer a Radiomir with a brushed or Ti case, with a tobacco/sandwich dial. Doesn't exist, so you look at your next best combination. Your budget will naturally limit you. And like anything else in the watch universe, it depends on what you like.
Where's Luke, he's the one to comment.
So, go forth and look.

"We'd better synchronize our watches."
Re: Any PAM love?
Jay, you pretty much covered it. There is the sausage dial (indices cut and then lumed) and also the Submersible line.
The 312 is definitely bang for the buck a great piece. In-house movement, GMT, 1950 case, no cyclops date.
As Ajy pointed out, there are a lot of variations. Look around the 'risti board and good luck!
