There you go again with your "not a true dive watch" crap. :banghead:

C'mon, Torrey, how is this not a true dive watch? It conforms to ISO 6425 standards (100M+ WR, antimagnetic, running second hand, etc...), the pushers can be used underwater and it glows like Chernobyl.

Sounds like a true dive watch to me.

Yes. The only aquatimer I like, the case has a cool rubber finish and have been debating about since it first came out.

What has kept me from getting it is that I haven't gotten over the limitations on straps.

Yeah I'm torn over the strap set-up as well.... went back to the AD today to check it out again but got fresh-aired by the staff (I was in scruffies because I'd been painting but still) so they must not want my $$..... you'd think in this day & age when retailers are screaming about not having enough business etc that they'd be smarter than that

Can it definitely not be worn on a zulu?

They make a velcro strap forvthe regular SS models, but I have never seen one for the rubber clad case. It would fit but look terrible.

This is the second time this has been suggested in this thread. Someone else chime in if they know, but my understanding has always been that DLC (diamond like coating) is too hard and cannot/shouldn't come in contact with it self. This belief came from conversations with Ball reps and sales people. They were the first watch make I remember using this technology over PVD.

None of their watches DLC'd watches came with bracelets; ends couldn't come in contact with case, links with each other, ect.

A pvd or dlc'd bracelet is a VERY expensive risk...you could do it, but probably will look bad...

That is the problem...we all like the watch, but are somewhat forcing ourselves to settle for a IWC rubber. Mind you, the IWC rubber straps are well done, but all of our patience would be tested...this is a watch that is ideal for a low-light zulu.

You're correct about cost; if it could be done right and it were a keeper-maybe . Still, you would take a beating when gou sell it.

I agree with Adam, this watch was made for rubber.

120 meters? Usually 100 meter watches have been rated for snorkelling and 200 meter and deeper rated watches for regular diving.

I would trust IWC 120 meters over pretty much any company's wild claims of water resistance. I'm of the opinion they're conservative German ratings.

Personally speaking, if I'm deeper than 50 meters, I'm probably dead!

And yet, ISO 6425 specifications only call for 100M of water resistance to be labled a true dive watch.

Me thinks you girls doth protest too much.

Hey I'm just stating what has been TRADITIONALLY ACCEPTED for what? 20+ years.... To be fair though, I did have a 100m Casio I used to wear for shallow scuba diving when I was a teenager.

Regardless, the Galapagos is a really cool looking watch in person.
