I do agree there can only be one Doxa. But, a majority of the Dive watches out there all use characteristics of other Dive watches that sell well.

I think that's true to a point. I mean you can only have so many configurations for a dial, esp given the relatively limited types of movements available out there today (I'm not talking about the in-house/specialized movements). But when a company makes a bezel and a case and a bracelet that looks EXACTLY like the "real" deal - that's a copy, and they won't be getting my money or my praise. Granted, they moved the crown to 4, but I'm still seeing doxa every time I look at that watch, regardless of the dial.
I have never figured out a certain other forum's problem with Joe. Maybe Joe turned em down to be a PAYING sponsor and so now they bash him. Well, who can blame Joe if that was really the case?! That's the last place I'd want to be associated with. Without turning this into a dog-pile, I'll just say that it's pretty transparent when a forum bashes one watchmaker/designer for making a watch that looks similar to a vintage-styled diver and then turns around and applauds another for making a direct copy.

You give respect, you'll get respect - you just don't know your place.

Trevor I've seen this "buy the tooling" stuff a long time on forums.cali kid wrote:i would bet the farm that DOXA bought the tooling so who ever makes their cases couldnt sell them to anyone else! That being said you could buy a doxa and do what longio did to L&B schaumburg! If i called a couple people names would sound like some guy we know sittin' all by himself at his lil' forum!!!![]()
A looong time ago, that may have had some validity, but I can't think of any watch cases, bezels, etc. that modern cnc mills and lathes can't do with standard tooling.
I guess all a company can do is patent whatever they can and threaten to sue the shit out of someone but anything can be copied.

Re: Doxalike
Yeah there is/was a nice orange Zeno that sold for 350-400 or so that was very Doxa'ish.

Re: Doxalike
If I had never seen a genuine Doxa, I may be tempted to purchase this watch. While most of us are battle hardened dive watch collectors, imagine if you just bumped your head on this site one day.
Personally I can't afford to add a gen Doxa to my stable right this minute ... if I found one of these in the secondary market, it may be a fun piece to own or even consider modding. Might look nice blasted, or even better PVDed or DLCed. Be a good candidate for a hand swap too

You make some very fair points, mate. Should be a pretty fun watch to have for the cash. I will reserve judgment until I've seen a prototype, not much I don't like anyway. My guess is many Doxa fans will end buying one, how many Ploprof owners bought an LM7 as a beater?
Re: Doxalike
Hello, this is my first post and this thread is the reason. This is a pic of vintage Felca watch from the 70's. It is currently for sale on the internet and not by me. Felca watch company is now known as Titoni they are well established and have been around since the early 1900's. So what do you think?

Re: Doxalike
Looks a lot like a vintage Doxa. Pretty solid looking piece for sure. Interesting.

Re: Doxalike
Anyone who would bash or question the quality of Zixen and Joe is a freakin idiot.
The Trimix smokes anything sponsored at at most forums. Sorry.
If you don't like the watch, cool with me. Joe and the quality are beyond question.
EDIT: And as I said earlier...
on whatever the name of the watch as the top of the thread is.

Re: Doxalike
I like my Doxa.
These types of watches/copies, whatever, don't bother me because I won't spend money on one.
Not a bad looking watch, though, but pure theft. Oh, and the name? WTF?

The fact that Sean was always pumping up Zinex was probably reason enough for 3L to beat them down.BSears wrote:I have never figured out 3T's problem with Joe.

Re: Doxalike
I think Felca got a hold of some of the same cases used by DOXA (back in the day) and made a smoking hot chrono. I'd buy it and I'd definitely wear it.jk103 wrote:Hello, this is my first post and this thread is the reason. This is a pic of vintage Felca watch from the 70's. Personally, I have nothing against the new watch. I tend to think that one of the reasons it has been met with criticism, is that WIS are simply longing for something original. Lately, there really hasn't been anything that has truly been original and innovative from any of the manufacturers. Granted, there are only so many dial/hand and case combos out there. You are bound to have something that looks like something else.
