For me it comes down to the whole package..... I love my autos because I can appreciate the craftsmanship & the work that goes into putting one together..... but I have absolutely nothing against quartz either.

It comes down to this.....

* An ugly arse auto with the best, most fancy-pants movement in the World does nothing for me.
* A kick-arse looking quartz that needs a new battery every 5 years (the TSAR for example) is a winner in my book.
* But a kick-arse looking auto with a great movement is the best of both worlds.

I have an old beat-up Traser quartz that is my on-duty / call out watch..... it has kicked in more doors, and monstered more bad guys than any of my other watches put together & not once has it let me down that's why I'll never get rid of it..... it's perfect for that job

Mechanicals, with an affection for autos. For me it about the hand work that makes up a watch. To me, quartz watch have no soul.

I agree with GGD - it depends on the package & and the intended use of your watch!

Got to be the looks, autos are good but I won't buy one just for it being auto. It has to look good as well.

I like my watches, like my womenz. Beauty on the outside, no one cares about inner-beauty!

haha... funny ^^^

Looks primarily for me and all the 'big' money is spent on autos for sure, but I have a small army of quartz watches (not all of them 'cheap') for abuse also.. I won't wear an Omega to scrape up against a building at night or lock out of a submarine...

Theres enough out there with both really but I would lean towards looks. If you don't like looking at it you won't wear it.
