Mike that is a really lovely story, there are good people out there they are just a bit harder to spot in amongst all of the mainly unpleasant/rude etc people out there. Enjoy the watch it is a stonker that is, and from the very short time I have known you I just know you are a great decent honest guy and you deserve having something great happen to you :)

I just saw this post, thats great Mike. A tribute to the hobby, the couple and obviously your honest and helpful nature. All the best with the watch and I do love the color. I'm sure this one will mean alot to you for a long time to come.

Merry Xmas.

Damn, that's cool. I have a buddy who has given me a few of his watches.... he's loaded and he loves doing cool things for folks. He always gives me one direction only regarding the gift.... pay it forward. So I do... and it feels as good going away as it did coming in. That, by the way, is not advice, it's just the story.

I have found that of all the hobbies I have been involved in, I have met the nicest of people in the watch world.

Congrats.

Some of you may remember the story on that turquoise NUMA that was on eBay. The owners had agreed to sell it to me at a fair price, but we let the bids go to see what would happen. When it had more than doubled, I bowed out telling them that this was a windfall for them, and enjoy it. Well that was two months ago, an I had all but forgotten about it.

Fast forward to today. Lisa and I are in western NY for my companies Christmas part, and decided to run up to Niagra Falls to look around and finish the shopping. As my wife was in the Kate Spade outlet, a number I didn't recognize rang in and went to voicemail. The gentleman introduced himself as, I'll call him Steve, and he and his wife had bought and sold Doxa's between ourselves over the last couple of years. I called Steve back, and he told me that he and his wife felt awful that I had not gotten the NUMA 1200.

He then blew my mind. He and his wife ordered two of the new blue NUMA models....one for me....as a gift!

I have never met this couple....we have only had nice deals between ourselves on eBay. He said "let's not make a big deal about it....I feel it's the right thing".

I have been feeling quite pessimistic about human nature lately...this absolutely has me stunned.

I just had to share this with you guys. Merry Christmas to all my watch buddies.

Real Quick shout out to Paul. He gifted me a watch, a G Shock around some trades etc... It was a great watch. I wore it at work a few times. A friend, brand new cop, pulled me aside and asked for info on it etc. He wanted a watch (never had one) and only knew it looked tough. I just thanked him for asking, told him I know how tough it is to make ends meet after the academy and gave him the watch on the spot. Felt great I get to see it everyday on my shift.

Thanks Paul!!

Dude, you went the rest of the shift watchless? Please tell me you had a spare in your gear bag. I'd have had to go by the house and pick up another one. Either that or tell the rookie he can have it after the shift is over. No way I'd go without a watch. :raised:

Nothing wrong with you saying "stonker" at all Andy, just me having a schoolyard giggle at that word.
Maybe its just us Southerners have an entirely different meaning for it,which I couldn't possibly say here
