Invicta Abyss Series Watches - pics of 5 watches

Post by SynMike » Wed Dec 02, 2009 3:47 pm

My Invicta 2686 white MOP Abyss was my first Invicta and still one of my favorite watches.

Image

In fact I liked the 2686 so much I bought 2 of them, both lightly used; They are affordable enough for that. Then I sought out other colors in the same series, 3035 yellow, and 2614 orange. I also found the far more rare 2691 black chrono along the way. I put 1 of the 2 white ones white silicon band.

Typical Invicta Pro Diver - affordable automatic with the Miyota movement. The bezel is particularly great, easy to grip, solid to turn. I like having the exhibition back. The band is pretty good, very solid. Clasp is nothing to get excited about but does the job well, with safety. Some have better fitting end links than others. Obviously the dial is patterned after the Seiko monster. Lume is typical Invicta - mediocre.

Apparently this 2691 chronograph model is more rare than most Invictas. I like it a lot. It uses a Miyota OS80, chrono with alarm. It's a very nice watch, although the alarm is so quiet that it is almost useless. Chrono does additive timing but not lap timing. I like it mostly for the looks.

Only the white one has a MOP dial. It usually doesn't show much color, the effect is usually just a brighter or more reflective white. But with certain light at certain angles you can get color. I'm not a fan of MOP but it works on this watch.

Recently I put one of the white ones on a silicon band.

I'll have to update this family picture to include the new white banded one.

Fantastic shots! i love the MOP dial and the white tropic strap!

The ornage one looks almost identical to the orange monster, with aint a bad thing. I like the MOP the most, i need a MOP dial in my collection.

Is it me or does that remind you of the seiko monster? Look at the chapter ring and hour markers. Also notice the design on the bezel, the sides match the monster bezel.

Sure. If you only read what I already wrote in my post above...

The dial is just like the monster. The outer shape of the bezel is also very similar to the monster, although the shape doesn't carry through to the case like the monster.

Yes, the lume on these is pitiful. But compared to an orange monster or just about any Seiko diver most watches fail.

Outstanding pics, Mike. I don't have any invictas but that MOP dialed version is pretty sweet.

I've always loved the hands on these ... and the dial work is really cool. I've never owned an Invicta but if they'd have put an engraved bezel in this one, they might have had me. Nice shots  .

Interesting caseback picture. Had never noticed the plate screwed into the screwed on caseback before, wonder what that is for? Really nice water drop shot.
