Just added the 18k/SS Speedmaster in the second row. Must stop for now. Really. I was given a budget of $2k for a birthday watch. Got the Speedie. Kinda blew/destroyed the budget.

Nice collection! Can I get your thoughts on the Port Chrono? My AD is holding one for me (with rose gold accents though) and I just can't seem to pull the trigger. I have no dress watch and no Chrono in the collection so that kills two birds with one stone - downside, I will have to probably pass on the Exp II I have ordered and wait until end of year/next year.

Brandon, thanks for the compliment. As for the Portuguese Chronograph, I have a review in the Watch Review section of this forum. I wrote it shortly after buying the watch a little over a year ago. Let me give you a more informed impression now that I've lived with it for a while.

For a long time prior to buying it, I'd check in with the AD to try on whatever they had in the case. Sometimes it'd be the one with gold hands and indices, sometimes they'd have the one with blue hands and indices. On the day I decided to purchase it, all they had was the blue version. I haven't regretted it a bit but I could be as happy with the gold version, as well.

It is my favorite watch and the one I wear the least often. A contradiction, I know. That's because I consider it to be more of a dress watch than a sport watch. Since I no longer work, I tend to wear one of the others when I hike, bike, walk the dog or just go to the grocery store. Every chance I get, such as a nice dinner, party, etc, the Port is definitely my first choice. If I was still working, it would be my first choice for office wear, as well. Although I think it does look great with jeans, as well.

The watch is by no means flimsy but it is so refined, for lack of a better word, it seems delicate. Not the kind of watch you'd wear if you were doing any strenuous activity. Adding to that impression is the strap. Very supple and very thin.

One other consideration is the perceived size. The watch is "only" 40.9 mm but it's all dial and very little bezel. So, it wears big. My wrists are only about 7" so the watch looks a bit large on me. Doesn't matter to me, I really like this watch.

Obviously, only you can decide which is better for you. The Explorer is probably a bit more versatile and I wouldn't mind having one some day but I wouldn't give up the Port to do so.

Edit: PS - It is very accurate, probably within COSC specs.
