What do you hope to see with watches in 2025?

Post by AtomicTom » Mon Dec 30, 2024 2:24 pm

What might you guys be hoping to see with watches in 2025? :)

Do you want to see more re-issues? Or cool vintage style watches?
Or how about seeing more ultra modern things done? How about
more automatic? Or quartz watches? Or solar powered watches?
And do you think prices will come down? Or might they keep going
up?

What do you hope to see in 2025?

And do you have any watch resolutions? 🎉

Tom in 2025 I think I’m leaning towards more vintage style watches. Lately they have been really catching my eye. As for a resolution I’m gonna be consolidating my collection a bit.

Happy New Year!

I want to see nothing! Only because I can’t swing something new right now, without selling something I already have and enjoy.

In my dream watch fantasy we would see a reissue of the no-date big triangle Seamaster diver. As a compromise, Omega would use the existing SMP platform and give us a modern take on the 2254.

I’m a fan of modern interpretations of vintage designs. Every time I think it’s been done to death, someone like Longines comes out with a really cool new model.

I’d also like to see some advances in movement technology, such as accuracy, power reserve, and complications. I think 2024 was the year of the affordable GMT movement. Maybe this year will bring an affordable chrono?

The use of new materials for cases would be cool too. While there is nothing wrong with 316L stainless, I’d like to see more companies using Ti or other unique alloys.

While maybe an unpopular perspective, the reality I’m seeing is a significant increase in the quality coming from Chinese micros. I bought a Maranez to harvest the bracelet and was impressed by the casework. There were no sharp edges, bezel action was solid, and I’m confident it would be fairly water resistant (maybe not the 300m as advertised, but certainly fine for recreational use).

The reports I’m seeing are these brands have improved even more since I made my purchase.

In my opinion, it is almost not worth competing in the stainless sports watch with a Miyota 90XX or SW200-1 movement category anymore because those other vendors can sell your design for $300. I’d want to focus on bringing innovations to the market that aren’t so easy to replicate.

I am hoping for the continued development of the micro brands; the quality and value is really off the charts now- something for everyone. I'm looking for the luxury brands to also continue to reach back into the years gone by to re-issue some of their cool models. Hoping for pricing to stabilize and for all brands to look at providing a full new kit (tool, extra straps, etc) in their packaging.

Very happy with my collection to date- with one major purchase coming as I hit a milestone birthday.

Here's to a prosperous year in watches for all of us.

Cheers-
Mike

Yes, Happy New Year Dave, and all of you guys !!!  :salute: :)

I definitely want to see those vintage style for sure. Even if I just like
to see them and never buy them.

Honestly, I think I want to see everything all of you guys want to see. ;)
Because it makes for more excitement right? ..The whole variety is
the spice of life thing. And really, no matter if it’s a luxury brand,
mid range, micro, or Chinese affordable, or homage brand, or a new
technology, material, or new idea, all of it would make 2025 fun !

And if prices became more fun that would be fun too.

Honestly is great hearing everyone’s opinions, so thanks a bunch !!!

I'm boring... I want a Pepsi Black Bay 58 GMT. No gilt.

And that Omega adds a GMT complication to the current Seamaster. Also a 42mm Ti Planet Ocean would be nice.

Dare I say I’m super happy right now? Still have an eye on a vintage two tone day date but need to sell some other stuff first. Definitely more into the smaller vintage vibe right now for the next one but may not happen this year.

I'd like a Pelagos chronograph. No goofy case or branding, with a bracelet.

I just want to see the dumb ass speculators and dubious grey dealers out of the market. Especially here in Sydney & Melbourne, in Oz. Who suddenly realise their watches aren't an investment that keeps increasing year on year at a over inflated rate...
Strength is = 2 or > than "tipping over a so- called smart car plastered in “Coexist” bumper stickers".

I would like to see a new Pelagos with a bracelet. I think it would be great if they basically just add a bracelet to the same head the FXD has.

Omega really needs to make a modern 2254.50 - come on already!!!

I would also love to see Rolex release a GMT-Master II Coke, I would get on that list and by the time I get the call 5 years later I might have the money for it LOL.
Regards,

Mark
