I was going to…. Had it in my cart… let it set and it’s gone. Glad I didn’t go for it. I looked at recon and they sell for less used and I know it was not going to be a keeper. I was going for a black/black/yellow seconds hand v2…. Oh well.

I was actually pretty close to pulling the trigger on another 556A, but at literally a third of the price with arguably better specs (BGW9) and also a lot of in house components like the dial and hardened case, it’s hard to beat. Plus I had points that I didn’t even know I had, guess they were from the U50P.

I was in the same boat as Ben. Had one selected, took a pause, then it was gone - probably for the best.

I think they are great “adventure” type watches with the hardened cases, 200m water resistance, and excellent lume. I’d run it on an Erika’s.

My only concern would be he size at 40mm and all dial. It is probably fine, but a couple of youtube reviews from guys with skinny wrists made me think twice (and therefore lose the deal).

Yeah, it's def going to wear large, but for a knock around, wear it doing whatever watch, it should be fine. At just over $400 (after WB points) I had to give it a shot.

I'm sure it'll wear fine.

The guy on youtube had 6.5 inch wrists and what appeared to be 12 year old girl forearms, so a thimble would probably look huge on him.

It really isn't much different than a Sinn 556 in case size (38.5mm versus 40mm), so I probably hesitated for no good reason.

FWIW, I think it will make for a great surf fishing watch. I kind of prefer not having a rotating bezel when I'm working in the surf zone. A rotating bezel is just one more thing to have to clean the sand out of when I'm done.

I was sad to see this didn’t work out between Dekla and WatchBuys. I was involved in selecting the product line that WatchBuys would keep on hand when WB took on Dekla a few years ago. I had high hopes for them as a high quality Sinn alternative. The watches are really nice and well made.

I picked up a 42mm pilot. Looking forward to seeing it in the metal when I get home.

Definitely wears bigger than a 556, but works for what it is. First impression is it’s a steal at the price.

That’s awesome Image congratulations Image i’d take that over the Sinn and may grab one in fact. Which escape variant it rhat ?

And such an incredible value. Still baffling how they don’t do better on the secondary market given the value and all the components they do in house.
The attempted delivery of mine yesterday but no one was home. Hopefully we’ll be here when they redeliver my pilot today.

It’s the standard V1 with hardened case.

And agree, if this watch had Sinn on the dial you wouldn’t know the difference other than the much much better lume…

That looks great, Brice. Does that have a hardened case?

That does look great. The Type 'B' watch that was on closeout had the hardened steel case, maybe this Type 'A' model does as well
