Earthquake in New Jersey? New York? Pennsylvania?
Did anyone feel that?
Or hear about this if they aren’t on the east cost of the U.S.?
This semi small earthquake here in New Jersey which registered as
a 4.8 magnitude evidently is supposedly the third strongest in 280
years of keeping track of them in the New York, New Jersey, as well
as Pennsylvania. (Tri-state Area) they say. With only a 5.2 in 1737
and a 5.3 in 1783 registering larger.
In New Jersey though, it is the second strongest since 1884.

I’m in central jersey. Sadly, the first thing I thought was to look outside for the smoke from whatever bomb went off, then realized it was an earthquake. Shook the whole house. Very unsettling.

I'd hate to be in one of those super slender high rise buildings that are all the rage these days.

I'm in south Jersey, and my house shook. We don't get many earthquakes around here, so I really didn't know what was going on. My wife was out working on the hot tub, and I thought something had gone terribly wrong.. No damage though, it was over as fast as it started.
AT, I didn't know you were in NJ.

Only felt one earthquake since I moved to Montana but then there is a volcano under yellow stone park. The worst earthquake I ever felt was in the bay area think in 1989 was watching the baseball world series the A's against the giants and the TV went black and never seen walls move like that like the walls were made of rubber. Was living in an apartment in San Leandro a woman in another apartment just started screaming and would not shut up. There was a double decker freeway I can't count how many times I drove on that collapse like a pancake surprised some people got pulled out alive on it. It was never rebuilt but the freeway did another route when it was redone. And part of the bay bridge collapsed.

Thinking of that earthquake I went through over 30 years ago. Some of you visited or live in the BayArea Here are before and after how the earthquake changed it, I know most of you don't know how it looked.

Todd, honestly I thought the same thing at first. Luckily we can sort of
smile about it just being an earthquake.
Myles, yes, imagine being in a building? And the buildings on this
side of the country aren’t built for tremors either.
Jeff, well I am so happy everything is okay with you guys. It certainly was an
eye-opening experience right?! And yes, I am in NJ.
RR, wow, so you have felt a couple then huh sir? With that one in 1989
being like hell on earth I am sure. And you know I remember that like it was
yesterday. Let’s hope they don’t see anything like that again, although they
say bigger ones are coming in California. ..Scary.
Derek, that would be cool !
By the way, at 6:00pm we just had a pretty good aftershock.
Wow, what a day. ..It’s fun watching the media’s reaction too by the way.
They sensationalize everything, and all of a sudden nothing else matters
but our tiny tremor.
Crazy crazy stuff all the way around. But it’s great to talk about with
all of you guys. Thx an absolute bunch for giving your thoughts !!!

I don't even remember that, I was young MIA. What a beautiful place then and now, hard to believe they filled the last hole four years ago, a quarter-century of development in our era says something about the standards they've taken up. Love to live there Now.River Rat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 12:45 pmThinking of that earthquake I went through over 30 years ago. I drink too much coffee. Usually don't notice the tremors here in Los Angeles area.
