Union Glashütte Belisar Chronograph Speedster LE

Post by logan2z » Thu Nov 23, 2023 10:09 am

Pretty cool looking chronograph from Union Glashütte.

An LE of 388 pieces. Fairly large at 44mm in diameter and 15.1mm thick with a 53mm l2l.

Movement based on the Valjoux 7750 with some customization by UG.

I'm not super keen on the 'Limitierte Edition' text under the logo and the crown looks like it would be more at home on a Flieger, but I like the watch overall.

Comes with a rubber strap and a stainless steel bracelet.

Priced at EUR 3,350

I like it, leggible with a sophistaicated air. It'd never get wrist time on me. Not keen on the LE either, maybe "Belisar" like their diver, if they need a 3rd line. I like the color scheme too. Thanks for posting it.

It's a good looking watch. Would be better if the date wheel had a black background with white numbers.

Meh. It’s okay, I guess.

In this classic chrono style, I’d rather a Hamilton Intra-Matic and pocket the extra dough. Only 40mm and 14.4mm thick also.

I do find it interesting that the brand / designer intentionally made this watch 44mm.

Some watches are 44mm (or larger) due to using a large movement size such as a Unitas hand winder.

The 7750 is actually a fairly small movement. I have one in a 38mm cased watch.

You can see how small the movement is by looking at the date window location on the lower register. That date ring represents about the outer edge of the movement. All of that dial space beyond the date window is technically just styling.

You could move that tachymeter scale inward and remove the railroad track currently printed outside the dial numbers and end up with a 41 / 42mm watch.

Knowing the design size of this watch was intentional, and assuming these brand designers are following trends much more closely than I ever would, I’m left wondering if larger watches coming back in style?

The color alone rocks Andrew ! :excited: ;)

Actually the whole style is great, with some really beautifully
eye catching details. I mean the super slim numbers, as well
as hands are incredible. And how about the sub-dials? Along
with tiny markings all over near and around the Tachymeter? :o
They really went all out with the refinement. ..And that’s
before taking in the case ! :salute:

Wow, stunning sir. Thank you so very much for the report !!!
