Re: Nivada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver
The A10 I had in a Doxa more than a few years ago was crap. New-ish watch and power reserve was under 25 hours. I didn’t know better at the time but over oiling was a common problem after researching. Sold it at a big loss and it was enough to turn me off permanently. I’m sure they are better now, but personally I’ll stick with ETA or SW for generic movements.Jeep99dad wrote:What’s with the triple soprod?

They are not better. They are still having production issues.Chocodove wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 7:40 pmThe A10 I had in a Doxa more than a few years ago was crap. Re: Nivada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver
I had a Soprod A10 in my OWC a few years ago that exhibited the same issues as Terry described.
It had to go back to Australia twice under warranty, with the second time resulting in a complete tear down, cleaning, and re-oiling of the new movement.
From what I heard, Soprod was over oiling the movements from the factory, causing them to gum up and lose power reserve.
FWIW, once the movement was properly assembled, it ran perfectly and kept excellent time.
I don’t think the movement design is poor. I think their assembly process needs improvement.

They did the same to Todd at Aegir watches. So Todd learn how to service them himself so that he could get the results him on it. Now currently Serica is going through some issues with them. Doxa also did not have good results.

Cheers for this heads up... confirmation that it needs to be a 40 at least.tattoo chef wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 3:29 pmI have downsized considerably since my younger days but even their 39mm looked really tiny on me.
