Tantalum is a unique material but it’s not gold.

Weight = quality?
Gold is approximately $50,000/kg and Rolex sells a similarly blocky sub made out of it for $35,000, so that seems unlikelytattoo chef wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 4:56 pmTantalum is $218 a kilogram.
It’s very expensive stuff, also highly corrosion resistant.
I didn’t look at the ad but figure they probably didn’t make many. I’m sure they will sell a few and that will be all.
I wouldn’t pay 6 grand for a Helson, but I applaud the uniqueness of using that metal.
I can only imagine if Omega or Rolex made it, it would be $60,000.

I own and wear both of these on rubber, and wouldn’t want ANYTHING heavier than either on my wrist.hoppyjr wrote:It also weighs more on rubber that a Planet Ocean XL or Rolex Deepsea.
245g GTFOH!
I like my $300 brass 42mm Shark Diver. Can’t imagine spending much more for a Helson.gwells wrote:i like my helson, but $600 like it, not $6000 like it. and this one is not that great. awfully blocky and chunky.
You are correct, and I’m bad at kilograms and ounces etc. I thought a kilogram was less than it is, so yeah, tantalum isn’t really that expensive compared to gold.JP Chestnut wrote: Gold is approximately $50,000/kg and Rolex sells a similarly blocky sub made out of it for $35,000, so that seems unlikely
