Incoming Eterna Kon Tiki Heritage 1973
Re: Incoming Eterna Kon Tiki Heritage 1973
That's a great watch that looks good on leather, rubber or metal (like Pat). The only reason I sold mine is that I found an original.

Dang that looks good. The bigger size likely won't bother me, but I wouldn't mind a smaller size either.gr8sw wrote:congrats! great watches... Eterna used to have a decent US/Canada presence in the 40's/50's/60's but somehow fumbled it away...
here's an original 40mm on Drew, one of the solidest vintage watches I've owned![]()
This watch kind of reminds me of Edox with their massive hydrosub reissue...they should have just stuck to the dimensions of the original IMO. I say this as a happy owner of the reissue.

Re: Incoming Eterna Kon Tiki Heritage 1973
Just got it...under the loupe it's perfect. Really good build quality IMO. I'd say it's equivalent or better than Doxa or other midrange Swiss brands I've handled. The lume is pretty bad on the indices, but that seems to be an issue with most kin tiki's. All in all I'd say this is a keeper. Don't know if I'm sold on the mesh seat belt yet...

Looks like a better price when you buy through them directly.

The mesh on these watches is supposed to be cut above everything else at that price point.
Re: Incoming Eterna Kon Tiki Heritage 1973
It is a cut above! Hardly wear it though as its too much bling for me. This watch belongs on leather or canvas imo.dmckean44 wrote:The mesh on these watches is supposed to be cut above everything else at that price point.

Mine was minted a little earlier and bought on forum a couple weeks ago. I love it and I've sold other 44mm watches because they wore too large. Wear it a couple days in a row and you'll be fine. I do recommend the mesh (which I thought might be too blingy w polished case, but it's great). It is a large watch and the more stable, the better. It looks great on a lot of straps. Here's mine with a few different looks.

Still on the fence about the mesh on this one. I like it, but like some other mesh bracelets I've had it tends to lean in one direction.
Watch is fantastic though.

Someone mentioned the original vintage. Here's a few of my 41mm vintage Scubapro 500s that are same case as Kontiki IDF w/added crownguard. These are perfect size and shape.

With a re-lume from Terry's guy or Jack, this would be even better.

No, it's note quartz. It's actually a Chronometre grade ETA. You can almost consider it an in house movement since ETA stands for Eterna.

The two companies have not had anything to do with one another in a very long time. Eterna is now owned by a Chinese holding company.dmckean44 wrote:No, it's note quartz. It's actually a Chronometre grade ETA. You can almost consider it an in house movement since ETA stands for Eterna.

Let's not be too harsh on Eterna for being owned by Chinese holding company. If China buys any more U.S. debt, the U.S. will be held by a Chinese government! LOL! Yes, this model has a very good ETA 2824-2. No quartz here. Enjoy guys.
