Re: Am I missing something??

It's all about condition, this one is mint. You can also say it reflects the going rate for a pre-moon Speedmaster; e.g. the price for a ref. 105.012 with or without DO90 would probably be close to the price for this bezel, earlier references even more.

Re: Zippo presented by Gen. W. C. Westmoreland (1968-1972)

I know a lady who is one of those people who frequents yard sales and always seems to make money on reselling those items. Anyway one time she bought a Zippo lighter for a $1 that had a petroleum emblem on it. Can't remember the gas brand name, but may have been Sinclair. Anyway she sold it on ebay...

Re: Zippo presented by Gen. W. C. Westmoreland (1968-1972)

No idea on value, but that's way cool. Here's the Wikipedia page on Gen. Westmoreland. His Vietnam service was very controversial here in the U.S. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Westmoreland Yes, his visit to Norway was controversial as well. It was supposed to be an official visit, meeting ...

Kind of miss mine one of the watches I sold before I moved to Montana to have some moving money. Any problems getting it serviced? Being a tuning fork watch and all? I've got a 1960 that needs some work. There's, like, one old dude back east who has a lifetime accumulated stash of old 214 parts and...

Well, Breitling ALMOST had it with this one. Very much inspired by the ref. 788 (Premier) from the 40s and 50s:

No date. :) 36 mm though, probably too small for most dive watch people. But what a beauty!

Minefield allright. Had to give up the hunt myself. But on the bright side: Stumbled across the valjoux 72 Marinemaster while hunting (Stewart got one I think, ref picture). Thinking of getting one, but they are quite pricey:

Re: Another odd question (five toes over the edge)

Nope. That doesn't work well with a suit and/or shirt. Just my $0.02. And forget the Pelagos as well. Certainly not dressier. Then you are just as well off with that Aero if you ask me. I would go for a JLC Memovox or maybe a VC as a dressy watch. And if you twisted my arm and said it HAD to be a di...
