Re: Recommendations for vintage Seiko service?

I'd highly recommend Danial Blair of the Blair Watch Project. He did a great job on my 6105. He documents each service on youtube which is pretty cool to see. You can watch mine here.

The other guys already covered the facts so I'll just leave a word of caution. The market is littered with franken watches with aftermarket parts. Dials, bezels, hands, date wheels, you name it.

Re: Where to buy a Breguet?

Thanks for the tips guys. I will inquire. Do you think 20% is realistic? I think that's reasonable. Which would you go for, enamel or guilloche dial? I thought I'd want the guilloche but after trying both on I'm really drawn to the enamel. But if I can get a good deal I love the Tradition. How do y...

Where to buy a Breguet?

What's up DWCers! Its been a loooooong time. Anyways a lot has changed in the last few years, not least of which is I am engaged and as such it's time for a new watch to mark the event. I already put a ring on it but in return my lovely fiancee has agreed to get me a watch. I'm thinking a Breguet Cl...

Likewise I recently bought another Barbour right at the factory . They are still made in Tyneside in England. The quality is completely the same as it's always been. Not all Barbour Some made in Eastern Europe and the ones I saw in Nordstrom were made in Tanzania Agreed. I have a Barbour made in Bu...

Re: New York Horological Society: Watchmaking 101

Looks like a great class. Was it harder putting it back together ? Wished they had some thing like that local for me to take a class like that. Yes, reassembly is a bit more complicated than than taking it apart. Setting the pallet fork on the escapement wheel and getting the balence properly seate...

New York Horological Society: Watchmaking 101

Last night dshap and I completed NYHS's watchmaking 101; our first foray into tinkering under the hood. The class was extremely well done. There were only 6 students in the class, each equipped with our own benches, sets of tools, and ETA 6497 movements. The most impressive part was the class was ta...

Re: We have liftoff!

What brand is it? I'll be in the market soon and reviews online are conflicting. It's a Quality Lift Q4P09: http://www.qualitylifts.com/Q4P09.shtml It took me a long time to research lifts and make a decision on which to buy. There's a lot of misinformation out there. Very few of the big name lifts...

I'm thinking about adding a 6105-8000/8009 to the collection. However, patrolling the veritable minefield of vintage watches has me with a few questions. 1. I see a lot of them listed as "all original". For some, it is obvious that it has replacement hands, dial, lume, etc. For others the dial pati...

I stream NFL Sunday Ticket on my Roku and PS4. MLB and NHL are available as well. The NHL blacks out the game if it's on cable locally. A judge ruled that blackouts are illegal. MLB has stated that they will have in network streaming by next season in 15 markets. http://fortune.com/2015/06/12/nhl-b...
