Re: a note on michael young bracelet refurbs...
as mentioned earlier, i requested he not polish this bracelet as one half has already been polished very very badly and cannot take another round of polishing (very thin in some areas). if i had known the bracelet would be returned in such a state, bearing in mind my previous 2 bracelets returned fr...

a note on michael young bracelet refurbs...
this post is not to put blame on anyone. i received a week ago my third bracelet michael young has refurbished for me. this particular bracelet, i mailed to him only the two bracelet "halves" - without end links, clasps or spare links. in a note to him, i left instructions not to polish the bracelet...

Re: Orient Star Seeker
yes i did, i'll be posting them in a few days' time along with the lume update and other thoughts. i went to the gym then swam for a half hour today and hit the steam room after that. i don't take my watch off no matter what i do and the orient performed A-OK. it's past midnight here (okay, closer t...

Re: Seiko SBDC007 Shogun (a review...?)
ah, in case i wasn't clear, i am the original author and posted that at only 1 other place many months ago. like my previous omega seamaster review... the photos are... a work in progress...! the truth of the matter is - my photos turned out horrible because there's some dust/dirt in the lens and it...

Orient Star Seeker
i saw the Orient Star GMT on offer online at US$477 and decided to order one even though the white version was the one i wanted (but is out of stock). shipping was free...! part of the reason why i bought this was to replace my "low profile" watch, a steel Seiko Spirit, which unfortunately has gold ...

Re: Seiko SBDC007 Shogun (a review...?)
addendum: allow me to make a few remarks to my original post... the "longer" clasp that came with the shogun... is longer only on the outer clasp portion where the micro adjustments take place (the holes for the spring bar) and the shogun's external dive extention also adds a little length to the en...

Seiko SBDC007 Shogun (a review...?)
(originally posted on a Singapore watch forum) i've not been online for so long, in part due to my last purchase of the SBDC007... it seems the shogun isn't as popular as it should be. so here's a quick "review" based on my candid opinions... with pics to come - when i can find a decent camera! i ho...

Re: Ochs und Junior Annual Calendar at 6k??
co-incidentally i was deliberating between the zenith winsor (all in house + chrono) and the ochs & junior (ETA base) or a MIH watch. the winsor actually works out to be cheaper from my AD than the non-VAT price of the o&j annual calendar. in the end i went with my heart and made payment to the ox a...

tropic-style 20x16 strap (squinky)
after looking at these for the longest time (and buying silicone ones from modena), i decided to buy one a week ago. the strap arrived within 7 days. the finishing is rough. literally and figuratively. my wife examined the strap and quickly announced this strap must have been made by the chinese and...

Re: Off The Grid Watch?
many years ago, i lived on a small tropical island for almost 12 months (11 months and 2 weeks). i wanted to run away from everything in my life at that point and decided escaping to an island made a lot of sense - at the time. i didn't really go through your whole thought process - i bought one wat...

Re: Sea Dweller Questions
if you like thick'ish watches, the SD will wear well and it's really comfy.
but wrist/watch face-wise... it will look COMPARATIVELY smaller to most modern watches, but not in a bad way.
try it on at the dealer's, take a pic, post it, and we'll talk you through it.
