Re: New Fortis Marinemaster M-40 and M-44

I really like these, but asking $3k is nuts with a basic SW-200 movement. Where are you getting it is a base sw200? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro From the Monochrome article that was posted about the M-40. Does mention a modified balance wheel so perhaps not the “base” version but for $3k ...

https://static.swatch.com/images/product/SS07Z102/sa360/SS07Z102_36.png That's cool that there's a dial on the back that allows you to select different functions. I'd probably leave it on "water-resistant" most of the time, but other people might prefer "stainless steel" or "patented". I would leav...

Re: Bike rack for minivan?

Saris Bones is probably your best bet for a vehicle without a hitch. They adjust to fit almost any vehicle with a trunk or hatchback. Worth buying to have in the garage. We have used ours on hatchbacks, wagons, sedans and a minivan over the years. Other companies make the same style, but Saris seems...

I am 51 and still consider myself to be a dude. Am I wrong about that? Or is there a point in time in the next six years where I’ll no longer be a dude? And when, exactly, will that be? Could one of you dingbats let me know? We’re you a champ or a chief at any point in time? While also being a dude...

Re: Ute Sambolo 2 piece strap released on Hodinkee!

I tried ironing the crease into it. So far it is staying in place now. If you put on the wrist tight it will loosen up just a hair to make it fit perfectly. the strap needs to break in a little to keep it from moving. i washed mine in the sink with some water to move the break-in process forward. th...

Re: Ute Sambolo 2 piece strap released on Hodinkee!

https://i.imgur.com/CFXrduo.jpg That's a pretty combo. I think the BB58 is the best "not expensive" watch in the world right now. I'll probably finally buy one if they fit the glidelock to the SS version, like the new bronze one. I daily wore the black one for 18 months before selling for a 16600. ...

And the blue for color reference. Wears like a NATO but closer to the skin. If there is a downside, in the short time wearing it the side with the loop seems to want to loosen over time, very quickly. May have to superglue the loop together or something. https://i.imgur.com/CFXrduo.jpg https://i.img...

These are good, but I wish Sinn offered something more than color variations going forward
I just checked and they offer 50 different unique model lines, with dozens of movement/color variations of many of them. They offer a lot for a small company.

Love the auto, but looks like it might wear like a tank. This solar is pretty hot. https://wornandwound.com/library/uploads/2021/09/SSC813_a-scaled.jpg I like the gray auto, but the size wouldn't work for me. I did pre-order the white solar though, I love a panda dial. Here's something I'm trying t...

Nice watch, but the strap ruins it.
Yeah, will probably be put to the back of the drawer or thrown out when the strap wears out.

Re: Omega’s Seamaster Chronoscope

Correction Tom, these are Speedy’s not Seamasters. Almost awesome but not awesome. Putting an element dial that essentially looks like a PP grand complication into a huge Speedmaster style case is a very typical (eg, dumb) omega move. That dial and movement in a tressor style case would have kicked ...

I've never thought Rolex was purposefully suppressing supply, but the official attitude seems to be "we're making them as fast as we can, but we can't control what our AD partners do with them once they're out the door." I guess it's okay for them to take that position if they're still selling ever...

That's jaw dropping too! I can't figure out why go through the effort of producing something so beautiful and then limiting it numbers. I mean how much money will Sinn be able to make by selling 100 pieces? The cost itself to design and manufacture these 100 pieces... How will they recover that? As...

Extremely capable is an overstatement. Off road vehicles are generally limited by tires and clearance. While electric vehicles can have nice clearance and a great COG, they’re not special. It all depends on your frame of reference... I simply meant for a stock production pickup/SUV, the articles th...

That’s so cool that they are actually off road capable! Makes sense based on the starting prices.
Supposedly with electric torque and air suspension they are extremely capable. Rivian is also planning to put a supercharger network along popular off road routes.
