Re: Which Seiko should I keep in my collection

Anything with the Prospex logo on the dial would be the first to go. Then I'd find the oldest one and that'd be the one I'd keep. Seiko is not at all what it used to be.

Re: suggestions: a watch for an 11 yr old boy

thanks for all the suggestions, guys. The Kids' Timex Camper watch used to be available from J. Crew. Not sure if they’re still available but that’d be a great starter watch. https://www.jcrew.com/s7-img-facade/43965_GR7824?hei=2000&crop=0,0,1600,0 Also maybe check eBay and Amazon and you might fin...

Re: WTB - Seiko 7549-7009 date wheel

I'm not entirely sure, since I'm more versed with seiko mechanicals. But, the 7549 is based on the 6306/9 mainplate. I believe all calendar parts for a 6309 are direct drop in replacements. Should be very easy to find.

Excellent, I think that's a Seiko.

Re: New here

I just noticed that, when setting up my account, I answered yes to the "Are you a spammer?" question. In my defense, I'm on tapatalk and the page did not render correctly. Most of the sections were not visible to me. I'm surprised y'all let me in lol

Re: New here

Hi, thought I'd introduce myself. I've been reading on this forum for a while now. Decided to join in on the conversation. My collection contains mostly vintage Seiko. Primarily '70s divers with 61 and 63 series movements. I've been on SCWF for some years now. I recognize a few members here from th...

Thanks for the welcome. And, no, no one gets a peek at my jewels without payment up front.

Re: New here

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. @AtomicTom, upping the jewel count simply means replacing metal bushings with jewels. For instance, a Seiko 6309 is a 17 jewel movement. I add four jewels to them. The upper mainspring arbor runs in a metal bushing that is replaced with a jewel, the mainplate arbor ...
