Re: Huge photo dump from our recent trip to Europe
Looks like a great trip. Got to travel a lot in the military but they teased you a lot in some countries Like I been to England but never left Heathrow airport and never left the airport in Amsterdam was only to transfer better when you do it on your own dime.

HMS Shiffield Plaque
When in the US Navy, I was on the USS Proteus AS-19 a submarine tender a repair ship. When in Diego Garcia our ship did some repair work on the HMS Sheffield. After it left it headed for the Falklands war. Did not make it and it was hit by a missile from what I read it took out the loop system that ...

Re: Long Island Watch Talks Tariffs
This might be the real reason for tariffs and it's not for bringing jobs back to America. It's a tax so he can do away with income tax only way to pull it off. Don't know if it would be cheaper to pay a tax like tariff or income tax but the tariffs might not be enough to pay for the govt. It's a pos...

Re: Long Island Watch Talks Tariffs
What about the island that they put tariffs on there no people on it just penguins guess they can pay with fish. Included to close a loophole that could potentially be exploited by transshipment. And despite there being "no people" in this territory, they do export items into the US. Basically, we'...

Re: Long Island Watch Talks Tariffs
Vietnam offered zero tariffs on American good coming there and that was not enough. Read the EU might offer zero tariffs and that's a big one what if that gets turned down. Anybody remembers the Boston tea party where Americans were taxed on British tea same as a tariff, we throwed the tea into the ...

Re: Tariffs from Canada?
The reason they say for the tariffs is drugs coming into the USA from Canada. But the only major drug bust I saw on our local news was one a few weeks ago and it it was two truck loads of meth and coke on the US side on the Montana boarder going across into Canada it like the U.S. is the problem. Ca...

Re: USS Wando US Navy Tugboat deck clock
Just got the certificate of origin from Chelsea. Wanted to make sure the movement started out with this clock. The movement was bought by Ashton Valve co on July 26, 1915, from Chelsea clock co, the keel of the USS Wando was laid on June 15,1915 glad even the time frame matches. The movement an 8-da...

Re: Tariffs from Canada?
Really don't understand why we treat our allies this way. In WW2 there was this unit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Special_Service_Force There is an old WW2 movie about it a great movie the devil's brigade. In Helena there is a park with a memorial to this unit maybe the only place in the USA...

Re: Tariffs from Canada?
Tariffs a dumb move. In Montana 70% of our oil comes from Canada. The refinery In Billings that makes our gas. I can see California gas prices in Montana. A lot on Montana building supplies like lumber come from Canada since we are next door. Some of the stuff my builder used on my house noticed the...

Re: USS Wando US Navy Tugboat deck clock
Here it is compared to the normal later deck clocks there are a few WW2 and cold war deck clocks that are the same size, but most were the smaller size. The size and being a very large red brass case just has the wow factor when you see it on the wall.
