Fair critique ryeguy. Still, La Joux Perret building Vulcain designs is a far cry from jamming an ETA or Miyota in a Chinese case.

And the wife's new XC90, which is nice, but who cares about seeing a Volvo?

Re: Jerry Seinfeld's Porsches
The 74 RSR was the big surprise to me. Almost $1M over other recent examples in similar shape. Definitely would have been my pick. Total sale seems to point to p-car collectors getting a little more finicky than the hype a year and two ago, but still a very strong market for truly great cars. I thin...

Re: Anybody Seen "Under the Skin"?
It did have a couple of very haunting scenes that I thought were very original and well shot, but I hoped for a little more from it after the festival reviews.

If it was priced like a Helson people would probably be less critical.

Re: Black Bay Bronze
Shoulda been brushed rose gold, same size, no 3, 6, 9.
It's kinda cool but not for $4000 or whatever. I guess it'll appeal to the panerai and micro crowds?

Gorgeous. My 3.2 is my first "keeper", the one I could never see being replaced. If your swapping to a 993, I venture you might go back someday.

Trade values
So what I do (on watches over say, $5k) is establish a baseline by getting a trade/buy offer from someone like DavidSW or Thanh Do or the like and if it's less than say a $500 difference for what I think I'm going to list/sell it for, I just get rid of it. If it's more, I'll list it and try to sell...

I had my '85 done last year and was thrilled with the results. It created a lot more depth of color and evenness from panel to panel.
