Can any Bremont owners chime in here..

Post by nweash » Thu Oct 22, 2015 11:25 pm

I recently bought the Black/Green S500. It came on bracelet. Took it off bracelet immediately. Ordered OEM rubber strap.

3 weeks go by strap shows up today. Have a hell of a time trying to install it. Springbars it came equipped with seem a hair too long. Grabbed a different pair of springbars and they went in easier...

Now the problem. The springbars are no where near lined up with the lug holes...what the hell? So confused.

The watch was originally bought from topper and so was the strap I ordered so I was going to call them in the morning.

Just wondered if anyone else has ran into this/ heard of this issue before.

Some Bremont's use curved springbars. It could be that the bracelet does not, but the rubber does?

I have the tropic rubber which does use curved spring bars. However they wouldn't fit in the rubber. It came with straight bars. So did the bracelet.

As I recall the rubber is a bit of a pain to get lined up since it's a fitted, curved design. You need to compress a bit towards the case until the springbars pop in.

Different spring bars for the rubber strap and the bracelet. Send Emma at Bremont an email (Emma@bremont.com) and she'll send out the right ones.

This, but its fairly easy to fit them IMO.

I have two fitted rubber straps for my S500 (blue old style with hard as hell rubber and black new style with supple rubber) and both use straight bars.

I would compare them to the springbars for the bracelet, but I sent my watch to the Bremont Spa last week.

Write to Emma, she's great.

The rubber came equipped with springbars that were slightly longer than the ones that came with the bracelet. So far that is the only difference I can tell.

I tried getting the strap to fit for a good 30 minutes. The lug holes seem way further near the case than the spring bars.

Had a conference call with Andrea from Topper and Mike from Bremont (lovely accent).

I asked if its possible I received
an S2000 strap and he said it would still fit except for some overlap on bezel. That's not my case.

They're sending me another strap because all they can figure was mine is faulty. If that's not the case they want to see the watch.

Great customer service all around FWIW.

Bremont is one of the Good Guys when it comes to CS.

Hopefully, the replacement strap goes on easy.

ps It's going to look great!

After speaking with Emma from Bremont (who was lovely) I had a new one shipped to me from England and it was rather different.

Far more soft and supple. The spring bars were in a different spot and the shape of the strap looked different at the lug end.

Original on left, replacement on right.

Fits perfectly now. I wonder what the hell the original strap was for?

Wanna hear something crazy. Tony had an alt1 c on a strap and when he tried to put on a bracelet, the same thing happened. The bracelet would not seat in the holes. It was almost like the lug holes were drilled way off. Sure enough that was the issue. The holes were drilled incorrectly and he had to get a new watch case from bremont. Glad a new strap solved it for you and yes the newer rubber strap is a world different from the stiff POS they used to have. I had it too.

Glad you got this sorted, Nick (as the Brits would say.) Mike Pearson is first rate, as are all the folks at Bremont. As Eric said, my problem was a bit more involved than yours, yet they resolved it in about one week including shipping my watch forth and back to England.
