Agreed!
14 years later, the thought of it still deeply saddens me and pisses me off at the same time!

My wife asked me today about the things I had to do and see that day. I didn't have it in me to tell her how awful it was.

The events of that day were horrendous. Despite how awful it may have been, I would encourage you to talk to here about it. I would also read anything you or anyone else had to say about it. There is pure evil in the world and people need to hear and see it to protect themselves. IMO of course.

I had a few retired NYPD guys that worked for me and a couple said they went to work on September 11th and came home around Christmas time.

Never. I just left work, because I'm performing a special 9-11 gig. Start with the "National Anthem"-my stuff- "When the Saints Go Marching In"-my stuff- and end it with " Amazing Grace".......

Sounds about right. I vividly remember sleeping on the sidewalk the night of the 12 or 13th, using a duffel bag as a pillow.

It was unbelievable at the time. I was in Pharmacology class with the rest of my colleagues when that happened. We didn't know the real impact and initially the professor told us to stay in the classroom. It wasn't too long when we all started to evacuate the school.
It was just surreal. Never forget.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.

Taken this morning:
After 9/11, it was hard to imagine that we'd get our neighborhood back, and yet we did -- better than before. Anything short of that wouldn't have been fair to the memory of all those we lost.

Adam

Yes, I spent a lot of time down in that area. I'm sure you prepared me a few meals.

Chris, I cannot fathom what you saw but thank you for all you did.
It's crazy... 14yrs later and it still makes me well-up a little... I don't think that will ever change. I'm typing this with 3 POW/MIA bracelets of lost brothers and know of many more who were connected through service to me in some form.
On a lighter note, for some reason on this day I recall when Steve Buscemi suited up with his old engine company to help out. Was refreshing to know selfless men like him exist in a industry riddled with tinseltown scum.

That was a horrible day in history. It seems like yesterday, it was a huge rush of emotion when I saw it on the news.

I was only there the second week. On the Spirit of New York. I got the Midnight to 8 AM shift. 5000 guys every night.
It was an honor to serve you guys. Maybe the high point of my life.

Personally I've never known or met anyone that was there at the time, during or after. So a big SALUTE to you, and any other member of DWC, for serving in any capacity!

I was watching a program last night, they were talking about the number of people that have died as a result of the toxic fumes given off by the crumbling buildings causing cancer in both the victims and first responders. The effect of this attack will go on for years unfortunately.

I was lucky in that I could stay inside the ship. It smelled like the biggest pile of burning tires you could ever imagine.

I'm playing with "house time".The thing that bothered me and a lot of other guys that day were why did we survive and 343 of our brothers didn't ?
