Be safe Joe. I strongly recommend a Generac whole home generator for situations like this. When we had the brutal ice storm here couple winters ago and power was out for days (weeks for some) at Xmas time,I said I'll never take that chance again especially with small children. Worth the $$ when you need it most. Kicks in within 20 seconds and it's all automatic. Runs on natural gas.
