Tiny House Jamboree Colorado Springs

Post by toxicavenger » Fri Aug 14, 2015 8:05 pm

A few weeks they had the first official tiny house Jamboree here in Colorado Springs at the Mining Museum a few miles away. It was a really good time but it was super hot and new puppy was having a hard time with her hind leg acting up so we ended up leaving early.

One other thing they thought there wouldn't be many people who showed up to this event but it was packed for three days straight with around 40k people attending total. https://www.tinyhousejamboree.com/

Here are some pics from it.

Although I could never live in one (too much shit) I am intrigued by these tiny homes. Maybe as a vacation cottage, but never as a full-time home.

Me either, we might have a laneway house built once we find some land though.

Awesome pics! I tried to talk my wife into driving out for this, but our schedule didn't work out. Looks like a lot to see.

Not true. A tiny home jamboree is not what I'd use to base the quality of CO poon.

Cool, Terry. I'd love to have one on some land for a getaway place.

These are mainly being built in Vancouver and run about 250k there. So it terms of where I live they might be around 80k and about 800 sq. feet.

Would be good for a single person but imagine a family they would get cabin fever so dam fast after bumping into every buddy after a few minutes. Were I live we get high winds certain times of the year wonder if one of those would get blown over there made to move from one location to another like a trailer so not anchored down like a house ? That would be cool when you are young and no family and want to live cheaply and you are wanting to save a lot of money for when you want to get a bigger house. Read some stuff about these before on the net and most were young who wanted to live on the cheap and that how I use to think when young. Looks like you and the family had a good time that antique mining equipment was cool.

I find the tiny houses fascinating. I could live in one if it was just me, as long as I had a shed big enough to hold my outdoor stuff. I don't keep much indoor stuff. But currently having 5 animals, a kid, and mother in law would make it impossible. Plus my wife would have to let go of a lot of stuff. She says she could, but I'm skeptical.

I saw a show on them, and the one thing I didn't like about a lot of them is that the bedrooms were basically lofts you couldn't even stand up in. Wouldn't be able to deal with that. Plus I'm getting to an age I don't exactly want to be climbing a ladder to get to my bedroom. :snooty: Still, the idea of clutter free, efficient living is intriguing.

You know I have one of the smaller houses were I live the minimum SQ footage allowed to build 1200 SQ mite be a little more 3 bed rooms and 2 baths my electric bill and heating bill for propane halve the price of my neighbors due to there bigger houses some twice the size so imagine the electric bill and heating bill I bet you could use propane or a smallest wood burning stove you could find and save big time in those tiny houses.

Ideally for me it would nice to go back to living in a 1k sq foot house with a 2.5 car garage.

Looks like Disney with people lining up outside just to get into a house. Three little boys, a wife and a Shi-tzu? I couldn't do it. If I were single, definitely.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.

After helping with a few estate cleanups, I realized I was on that same path of accumulating massive amounts of crap. I have now been doing my best at getting rid of a lot of my excess and waste. Living in SoCal, I think small living is really doable since most of our time is spent outside and weather extremes aren't much of an issue.
