The ranger was super wearable. I'd wear it on my < 6.5 inch wrist.

Matt I have never tried a Railmaster but the a ranger should wear smaller.

Note: I really can't comment on the bracelet as I removed it as soon as I got the watch to put her on a nato.
Thanks!

I like this watch quite a but, my only issue is the way the crown sticks out from the case. It almost looks like what would happen is some put the wrong tube into a watch.

Bumping an old thread because I just stumbled across it, and Mike's photos of the Ranger are outstanding.

Thanks, Jared & Mike

As you guys know, since borrowing Willy's Ranger, I put my money where my mouth is and bought my own. Still feel the same and rank it very high in terms of comfort/wearability. Great lume, accurate and a great strap/NATO watch.

I know I am in the minority but I like the bracelet, straight end links and all. Has a retro cool look.

You're killing me, Mike.
The Rolex Explorer I was always one of my favourite Rolexes. I love the geneaology/history of the line dating back to the pre-Explorers, and its understated presence. When the Ranger was released it immediately piqued my interest, aside from its good looks it also comes from great stock. Now, I haven't handled one in person, but your photos, Mike, have really rekindled my desire to try this out. Love everything you highlighted. Some serious food for thought...

When I tried on the Ranger, it was my style and I loved it. BUT... I'm still torn between the Ranger and Speedy Pro

Very good review. This is a watch I know I would like in person, but seems so plain-jane in photos.

In photos it's very difficult to capture the subtleties of the watch; the lovely domes crystal, the slightly domed dial, and how they work with the case. The dial has a very "aged" matte appearance, while the lume is just a light enough eggshell color to suggest vintage without being overdone like so many faux-patina watches are these days. That lume is also painted on and not printed.

I made the mistake or trading it away once, but had regrets almost immediately (although I'd have enjoyed seeing it on my buddy's wrist too). When the opportunity came to get it back I didn't hesitate. If I let it go again it'll only because I need the cash, but I'm trying to avoid that scenario if possible.

I've been giving one of these serious thought, but I'm waiting to see what Basel brings before shelling out any cash.

The problem with that way of thinking is what ever is hot at Basel is going to be super high in price for a while after its release.
