My mother always buys a corned beef after St Paddy's Day when they're on sale. Frugal woman. She gave me half so it's corned beef and cabbage day for me today.

Yes I do Graeme. It's an American variation from the Colonial period. Any time I've been to the Emersld Isle the first meal I have is Galway oysters followed by Bacon and Cabbage.
There is also no corn in corned beef. The name came from the salt used to cure the beef in barrels. Grains of salt the size of corn kernels.
