One thing I never liked and may be user error, when I get a pm I never get alerted anywhere. Only way I know I got a pm is to look at messages and see a (1) next to it. Is there another way to get an active notification?

Just want to confirm, for this issue, what area are you in? Timeline? Feed?
I always just go to unread topics.

@ was chosen because it just denotes places you've been to, there isn't really a "standard" icon for participated is there?

rss icon and the "diagonal wifi" looking symbol we have for unread seemed intuitive to the android beta group but if there is a better one, it's an easy change, we're open to suggestions.
When I see @ I think email. It doesn't imply 'places I've been' to me and I go places without participating so I'm not even sure that logic holds.

Maybe your visual design team should consider a custom icon here. Off the top of my head maybe something like the image of a stylized user who appears to be talking would be appropriate. That might more clearly denote participation.

I'm surprised the beta group found the WiFi icon intuitive for 'unread'. I don't see the connection. Maybe an icon that shows a set of horizontal lines denoting a list of topics with vertical 'unread' bars beside them would be a more obvious tie in with the visuals for 'unread' in the topic list.

Just some quick off-the-cuff suggestions...

That's typically the way I read DWC too. I navigate differently at sites like WUS since the list of unread topics is usually huge.

You can change your user settings to send email when you receive a private message. I don't think you can set that via Tapatalk, however, you need to use the web interface.

Surprised the app can't send a notification like other apps such as ebay etc.

It could. The forum server would need to be GCM enabled in order to push messages to the Android Tapatalk client. I'm sure Ken could comment on whether that's already there or in the works. I've never seen a push message for a PM, just email.

The word UNREAD might work to find all the unread topics.

:) I figured they went with icons to save space, but good ol' words would work too.

Two aspects to this:
1) The _platform_ that's running the message board. You should have notification options there.
2) The app you use to view multiple message boards - it does have notification options.

In short: this sounds like user error :)

Sounds like you should sign up a couple of people from this thread for your beta program :fro:

I'm so fucking lost in this new version. I feel like I need to devote time to study this just to find my way.

It sucks. I've abandoned it and am back using Chrome on the tablet. The iPhone version hasn't been ruined yet.

It is pretty bad. Surprised they released this TBH. I'm still using it begrudgingly because I often have my phone with me and not my laptop but I hope they fix this in the next version.

If you're on android, this might be something to check out

If you're on an iPhone, well, there's no hope for you.

Too late to hit the rewind button? The last version was fine.

Hmm so instead of fixing things they've rolled out the broken stuff to other platforms? Odd strategy.
