Bremont Movement...
Bremont Movement...
Straight from Topper's post in WUS....
The movement was designed by Bremont in conjunction with Swiss Movement manufacturer La Joux-Perret, one of the finest movement companies in the world, and whom Bremont has had an ongoing relationship with for years. La Joux-Perret worked with Bremont to develop the movements in both the Codebreaker and the Victory. For the Wright Flyer, La Joux-Perret has created the movement train (the drive train and base of the movement) in a configuration that, while similar to a few other La Joux-Perret movements, is unique to Bremont. The Balance complete will feature components provided by Nivarox. Bremont will manufacture the “top” of the watch movement—the bridges and plates—in Henley-on-Thames. In addition, Bremont will cut the case of the Wright Flyer in Henley. While future Bremont timepieces will no doubt have even more manufacturing completed on site in Henley-on-Thames, the Wright Flyer shows a significant step towards autonomous manufacturing. Given the commercial success of the piece (it had completely sold out by the end of the day Friday), this project should help Bremont continue to buy the equipment necessary to do even more watchmaking on site at Bremont H.Q.

Re: Bremont Movement...
So, they should completely remove any mention of in-house movement from their websites, etc., because it just isn't the case. They just supply parts for the movement to La Joux-Perret, who manufactures a large percentage of the movement and assembles it for Bremont.
Am I missing anything here?

i see no problem with that description. still confused as to why that wasn't what was said to begin with.

I'm glad that someone has finally made a specific statement, but in answer to your question... because "all new in house movement" sounds better?gwells wrote:i see no problem with that description. still confused as to why that wasn't what was said to begin with.
Re: Bremont Movement...
If they have in fact sold out, I find that fascinating, but hardly surprising.

Just like Matt said, whole different demographic...
I think there is a group of collectors who would like to see a true in-house like the P-51 or EP120 (non LE) for under $10K...

Re: Bremont Movement...
I was looking through some of my watch magazines last night and the prices of the various "high end" watches. There are some well established brands with true in house manufacturing that are far below this pricing. Are people nuts?
I actually really like the looks of this watch. The pricing is just a little crazy though.

I struggle to think of a single example of any stainless steel three hand in house watch that isn't cheaper than this oneandrema wrote:There are some well established brands with true in house manufacturing that are far below this pricing. Are people nuts?
Re: Bremont Movement...
I think there's just a group of well-funded collectors out there who will buy something simply because it's unique, expensive, and exclusive. The piece of fabric housed in the rotor would be a big selling point amongst those folks, regardless of whether the movement is truly in house or not.andrema wrote:I was looking through some of my watch magazines last night and the prices of the various "high end" watches. Remember that scene from Wall Street where Gordon Gekko is showing off his very rare .45 Luger? It's like that.
Re: Bremont Movement...
I think a lot of the arguement comes down to EXACTLY what defines something as 'in-house'. Given that there is no strict definition from a regulating authority, it leavels the term open to the discretion of the company.

Indeed. I can understand an argument that the Omega 8500 could be in house, but at some point it stretches beyond reason.andrema wrote:That is a huge stretch.zepp21 wrote:I think a lot of the arguement comes down to EXACTLY what defines something as 'in-house'. I wish it looked cooler so the amount of controversy generated would be worth arguing about.

Zing! I do prefer the non in-house backside to the in house front side.FlyPenFly wrote:I wish it looked cooler so the amount of controversy generated would be worth arguing about.

Re: Bremont Movement...
Their movement is still more in house than most Swiss made watched are Swiss made.

I had a similar thought in the Hodinkee thread.fastward wrote:Their movement is still more in house than most Swiss made watched are Swiss made.
marchone wrote:Maybe they thought they could apply "in-house" with the Swiss definition of 50% manufactured in Switzerland to legally use "Swiss Made"?
