Girard-Perregaux's new SEA Hawk

Post by AtomicTom » Tue Apr 22, 2014 9:41 am

Not sure if everyone caught Girard-Perrigaux's newest variation of the Sea Hawk. This new version has a multi-faceted stainless steel case similar to 2012's update, and measures 44 mm. Some new colors have been added to the dial, and unidirectional rotating bezel though. Even the hands of the watch, along with the power reserve have orange on them. In addition a blue rubber strap teams up with the look of the cobalt blue honey-comb dial.

Some of the other specifications include 1000 m WR, helium escape valve, in-house GP03300-0074 self winding movement with 46 hour power reserve. There's a choice between blue rubber strap, or steel bracelet with this new GP also everybody.

Some pictures for you...

Looks like the Orient diver. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not at this price point.

I'll be getting one for an extended test drive, so we'll get a good idea of how it works in person. I loved the silver/white dial version that they lent me before, but I felt then -- and now -- that it needed a bracelet option. Well, now they've got one, along with a pretty cool color scheme, so let's see if makes it worth the beans.

So far me likey what I see...

Adam

There is a lot to like.
There is a lot to not like.

Like: Bezel - really too cool  , hands, dial texture, case shape, bracelet.
Not like: Power reserve set up - I actually want to hurl at that. "WIND" and "UP"?, date window.

I don't love, don't hate the color scheme.

I do love this color scheme:

I think I need to go back a couple generations to find my favorite sea Hawk design. I'm guessing the pricing will be more retarded than that dude from goonies.

Love he old oracle one, everyone since then just gets worse.
"30ish years of martial arts and I've actually had the honor of training lots of LEO, spec ops and even SEAL team 6 on base, fitness training, not martial arts, but still the coolest thing I've done.

Full on egg head corporate job and I fly quite a bit so I'm really looking forward to adding to my collection of TSA friendly self defense tools. I have amcouple tactical pens, but I want to up the game and get into some custom stuff. Been watch obsessed for a while but this seems more fun.

Thanks for letting me play! "

They need to lower the price by about 40%.

I don't like the LW style case with the build in end links, also with all of the colors on that dial it makes it look like it belongs in TJ Max on sale.

The previous versions were great imo.

The round bezel looks a little weird to me sitting inside the faceted trim. Other than that and the color, I don't hate it.
