Introducing ourselves

Post by TimelessLuxWatches » Thu Apr 17, 2014 12:05 pm

I just wanted to introduce the guys at Timeless to the DWC community. I’m Brett, the guy behind most of the posts Timeless does. I’ve been collecting watches for over 20 years with a particular affinity for Seiko/Grand Seiko, Nomos and Omega watches, although there are dozens of brands I follow. There’s also the owner of Timeless, Dan, also a very long time watch collector and he’ll post from time to time as well.

What we do here at Timeless is more than just run a store. We’re really involved with the watch community, both locally and online. We are hosting GTGs for North Texas watch collectors, for car guys, for scotch enthusiasts—pretty much anything you can imagine. Online, we try to get way past the marketing that no one pays attention to anyway and provide original articles and news. For instance, I write reviews on our most interesting watches with tons of photography. We’re trying to create stuff people actually find interesting and want to read or look at, not just another sales pitch. And we also cover industry events like Baselworld and JCK and keep everyone online in the loop.

So far I haven’t been active enough on DWC, but I want to change that soon. In the meantime, definitely let me know if there’s anything you guys want to see—a review of a watch we carry, a comparison, a technical guide to something, news coverage of a particular brand—anything you can imagine, just let me know and I’ll try to make that happen.

Brett

Welcome. Dan was kind enough to answer an email query I had on the upcoming GS 9F Diver. Please post what you can about it.

^ That.

North Texas isn't far from Central Texas in Texas terms. Watches, cars and scotch.... no motorcycles?

Welcome!

The details on it are really sketchy right now. It was supposed to be a Basel 2014 release according to the stuff we were given by Seiko HQ but for reasons unknown it must have been delayed. Seiko has told us that it's still on the way though, so hopefully by June we'll have it in hand.

This is our ultra-top secret prototype photo, which as you can see, is really, really low quality. Somebody crossed enemy lines with a spy cam to get this.

So we know it looks a LOT like the spring drive diver that's out already and that it won't have a date or power reserve, which I think is a good call for a hardcore diver. That means it'll be using a 9F61 movement, the no-date 9F cal. It'll be rated for +10 seconds a year, so that's pretty great, and it's got a sealed movement cabin, meaning that dust and moisture can't enter the movement even during a battery change, so it has a ridiculously long service life.

I'll definitely bring more photos and size specs as soon as Seiko gets them to us.

Dan's more the motorcycle guy although I love them too. But the only bike I ever had was a 115cc Honda Future 4 speed in SE Asia so I've got a feeling you guys wouldn't be interested in my stuff. We're both big car guys though, he's got a great Porsche, I drive an old G8.

I'm actually from central Texas personally. I was born in Keller, but went to high school in West (North of Waco).

Especially considering the standard 40% discount

Welcome. Been in your shop and got to meet Dan. Think I even put out a post about it. Really impressive place.

My partner is a West boy.

There's a crew of us heading to Dallas for the watchbuy's event May 10. Maybe we head up to Frisco and pay you fellas a visit to take advantage of the 40% discounts....

Great service at Timeless. I've bought a couple Bremont gas gas bones straps.

Thanks. It looks like it will be a high quality grab and go watch. Just up my alley. Dan said you're taking $500 deposits now. Is it $4K MSRP? What's your standard % off MSRP? PM if you need to. I'll broadcast it here.

Yes, we're taking preorders on all the new Basel releases right now. Pricing on that particular model is still speculative because Seiko is so tight lipped about it, but on the document we were handed months ago, it said 4K. I wouldn't be surprised if Seiko lowers that price before it comes out, but that's the only number I can run with right now.

Definitely give Dan a call tomorrow (he's gone home for the day) for pricing info and let him know you're a DWC member.

What other manufacture has done a high quality cased thermocompensated HAQ dive watch? Especially GS? They rate the 9F at 10 spy but reports routinely have it at 5. It's exciting. At least to me.
